Subject: Note to my readers.................................

Hey Gang,

I planned to address this in my column due out next weekend (although it will probably come out sooner), but I left the following out on my Facebook page for a reason:

Guys, I have just been contacted by two GH performers through my Voy site. They are concerned that we will be boycotting them. I know that everybody is angry with ABC, but we need to do things carefully. Boycott everything else on ABC if you must, but please do not hasten GH's exit. If anything, they need our support! We need to stay focused here. Please do not boycott GH no matter how you feel!

I understand that everybody is angry right now, but we need to do things responsibly here. We need to boycott ABC, but not the current daytime line up! That would only make things worse. Please continue to watch AMC, OLTL, and GH until the bitter end! Nobody is asking you to watch General Hospital if you do not wish to see it, however it would give them additional support if you are not already a viewer. Do what you feel comfortable doing, but do not boycott GH if they are the last man standing. I plan to watch GH even when both shows are gone, however sadly enough, I'm not sure it will matter by that time. I planned on going into this in my next column, but so many keep asking me about this on Facebook. GH is being given a year tops (and that is being VERY generous because they will probably not even get that much time). They are merely looking for the right show to replace it with.

In addition, Anne Sweeney is no angel either. She is the puppet master pulling the strings. Frons is just her evil henchman. I think a poster from my site summed it up nicely. The following is from one of my favorite readers at Facebook:

Here's what many don't get: Brian Frons is the PERFECT ghoul for ABC because he has no soul. He will beg, borrow, steal, lie, cheat, manipulate, and whatever vile action he can do to get his bosses agendas across. He is a troll, but ABC loves him because he's also a blunt evil instrument and will gladly take the heat. Forget about him and ask yourself this: How long did Anne Sweeney know about all of this?

Fans will obviously be campaigning hard (it has only been a day or two, but I know that some have begun early). We plan to target sponsors by letting them know that we have no intention of watching any of the new replacement shows, and will not be able to view their commercials anymore. We are also appealing to Oprah as she has her own network, loves ABC soaps, and has a great deal of money at her disposal. We are hoping that if she cannot raise the capital to buy the franchise, she might be able to collaborate with another entity to make it happen (I know that she has said no for now, but it's worth a shot because she has a huge heart, and may change her mind). We also have no idea who will be coming out of the woodwork over the next few months who may want to bring them over. What would be truly pointless is to continue to try to change ABC's mind. We just threw the biggest campaign that ABC has ever seen at them, and they didn't even blink. They are set on doing this. They have had this planned for a long time being the spiders that Sweeney and Frons are. Petitions are worthless (they never read them and laugh them off), Letters, calls, and e-mails are things they do not laugh off. I will have more information in my next column (exhausted from all of this right now), however you can go right to the sponsors individual website's and begin e-mailing them now if you want to get an early start.

That's it for now guys....

P.S. Love note to Fronzilla:

Frons, you really need a PR person with you at all times (it should be written into your contract that you are not allowed to speak without someone present).

Love note to Sweeney Todd aka Anne Sweeney:

Anne my dear, you are not off the hook. We know what a monster Frons is, but you were the puppet master here were you not? You knew all this time what you planned to do, and yet you allowed those people to move to California giving up their lives in New York, only to leave them devastated in every conceivable way (and you knew it was coming). This should be a proud moment for you both.....

Given time soap fans will be a force not to be ignored once we get organized. And now we have Agnes Nixon on our side!
Let's pace ourselves as it could be a long battle! Get some rest Raven!
Meanwhile let's keep watching our beloved soaps at the very least on ABC!

[> [> Raven, can you explain???................................. -- Joan (Miserable), 11:50:41 04/17/11 Sun [1]

Raven WHAT is the rationale behind canceling GH if ABC wants the 18-49 demographic? It is #2 behind The View in daytime, and at times, it has surpassed it.

The Talk has lousy ratings, according to this article -
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2011/01/cbs-finds-a-way-to-make-low-ratings-roll-the-right-way-for-julie-chens-the-talk-.html

...and why it was renewed is inexplicable, as you can read in the article.

So it must be money, but what is the point if no one is watching? Does anyone honestly think there are viewers for a cooking show and a weight loss show in the afternoon?

Joan, Julie Chen is married to Les Monvees, the murderer of GL & ATWT, the creep who referred to both soaps as "grandmother's soap operas", the guy she had a baby with about a year or so ago & then ATWT was cancelled & she got a talk show about babies.

Does it make more sense now?

I understand about The Talk but I DON'T understand the rationale for giving GH a year at most. If the networks want the 18-49 demographic, and GH vascillates between #1 and #2 for ABC daytime, WHY replace it? What is the rationale? Cheaper, okay, but do they think they can get that demographic to watch another reality show?

What else can we do? I have blast emailed sponsors and called and have written letters. No one is listening. Every day something else is taken away from us. Whether its a tv show or our simple rights. Is there any chance at all that the OWN network (Oprah Winfrey) would consider taking the shows to her network?

[> BOYCOTT ABC -- Linda, 21:17:43 04/16/11 Sat [1]

Here we go again! I grew up watching soaps. I remember the first time I watched Another World was when I was visiting my grandma in 1960's. The day they cancelled Another World I promised myself I would never watch anything on NBC especially the crap Passions they cancelled my soap for. Well in my home NO ONE watches NBC!
Since Another World was cancelled that channel is blocked. I think a lot of the rating problems are because the exec's do not take into account that people work during the day, BUT, they still VCR record and DVR record their shows. With this type of show, you can miss a week and watch one day and be caught up. I miss shows like Dallas and Knots Landing and Dynasty and Falcon Crest. What I don't like is the STUPID reality based shows. Shows like The VIEW are fine for some but not for me. I'll watch CNN for the 2 hours prior to General Hospital coming on. This is like losing a part of my family. I will be BOYCOTTING ABC except for General Hospital when the others go off the air.

LOL Modern Family is awesome. I will not stop watching that and giving myself a laugh because AMC/OLTL are toast.
I just refuse to watch any ABC daytime shows.
Why punish yourself further Joe?

[> [> [> Re: BOYCOTT ABC -- Star Miller, 02:25:25 04/26/11 Tue [1]

Since the ratings don't seem to be based on vcr or dvr recordings (hence there is nobody watching soaps), record your favorites like Modern Family.
I have switched from Good Morning America to the Today Show and I only watch the soaps on ABC.

Raven, you are right. I took GH off my DVR out of anger, but you are absolutely right. I need to support my other show after all it is not GH's fault. However, unfortunately, my other DVR'd shows
Desperate Housewives
The Middle
Modern Family
Cougar Town
Body of Proof...

will all be off my dvr by tomorrow. How sad.

I agree with Raven on not boycotting GH. Whether you watch the show or not, the GH cast and crew did nothing wrong here.

I was totally heartbroken over the loss of GL. I campaigned so much to find GL a new home, and when it was not to be, I kept watching. Why? Many GL stars and crew in the last few months the show discovered twitter. Their tweets were so appreciative of the fact that their fans kept watching because it gave the cast and crew motivation to bring their very best to their fans. When we keep tuning in and watching the shows we are honoring not only the cast and crew, but our families as well. How many of you discovered soaps because your Mom or Grandma watched them?

No prime time show will ever match the loyalty and multi-generational following like daytime soaps. Guiding Light had 7 generations of followers, ATWT had 5 generations, and OLTL and AMC 4 generations.

One thing we need to do is contact the local affiliates and let them know that we will boycott all local and national advertisers during whatever ABC replaces the soaps with. It may not change ABC's mind, but it will get their attention. After that we need to arrange a statement of "Buycott" letting advertisers know that we will go out of our way to support them if our shows find a home elsewhere and they continue advertising on them. Let them know that we have the means to support advertisers with our buying choices (meaning: not unemployed teenagers that Frons wants to go after)and we will. Of course, that could get a little tricky if they advertise both places. :-)

Can anyone tell me how they gather the ratings these days? Do they still use the Nielson boxes ... if so ... how will they even know if AMC and OLTL fans are not watching ABC anymore? And how will they know we're still watching GH?

I am HOPING now that most people have cable or satellite TV ... they're using those connections for the ratings. But if they aren't ... how can those of us not in the Niesson Rating System let them know???

Don't worry guys,

Next week several of us will be paying closer attention to the commercials and writing down the various products advertised. We will go to the corresponding sites, find the contact information, and pass it on (unless someone wants to do this now and has all the CURRENT sponsors list already).

Here is a letter from Robin Strasser (I am so glad that she brought up Chelsea Handler). As my Facebook readers know, I went off on Chelsea after someone sent me that link. I was stunned and outraged. Robin looks damn good for her age, and still drives story. Chelsea already looks like an old leather purse (she should be so lucky to look like Robin at her age)! Chelsea reminds me of a demented looking blonde Chucky doll.

The following is from Robin Strasser on the current situation (Thank you Susan)!

[> Re: Note to my readers................................. -- former tv programmer now consultant, 02:40:57 04/17/11 Sun [1]

Changed my usual posting name for this post. Raven is 100% correct. This has positively been in the work for at least a year. About a year ago Disney tried to feel out the syndication marketplace with The View. Enough Local station did not want it at the cost they(Disney)
needed to make the move to syndication. Fronz is the axe man not the author of the plan.

I have watched all three soaps all my life. Yes there are times that I abandoned one or the other but I still watch OLTL religiously and keep an eye on AMC and GH.

I will still watch all 3 as long as I can, and even play them on Hulu. But I will honestly boycott all ABC show during November except the soaps, why because those rating help decide upfront dollars. While networks make money all year, the bulk of $'s come during the upfront. I love cooking shows I watching them all weekend long on Food Channel, Bravo TLC, will not watch as part of daytime.

[> [> Re: Note to my readers................................. -- Tearful, 04:00:12 04/17/11 Sun [1]

I also believe that this DECISION was made at least a year ago. When Soapnet announced going to 24/7 PreSchool programming, that sounded the alarm. Having lived through GL and then ATWT's cancellation, when AMC moved to L.A. I found it all too familiar .... cost saving my a$$. The handwriting was on the wall, the joke on us. But when Michael Logan spoke the truth AFTER Raven spoke the truth, the denials started flying, which just made the truth all that more true. Reactions from people OTHER THAN fans has been embarrassing ... couldn't anyone keep their mouths closed, for at a least a few days. The immediate "no one was watching" and "get over it" really ignited the firefight which I hope won't be extinguished. They slapped us in the face and are now telling us we screamed "OUCH" too loud.

[> Re: Note to my readers................................. -- Teresa, 02:51:12 04/17/11 Sun [1]

Raven, you are right, of course. At first, I was encouraging others to boycott ALL ABC shows and all their affiliates, but we should watch the soaps while we have them, including GH, and we should make sure somehow that the advertisers know that we will continue to watch and to buy their products as long as our shows are on the air. But once they are gone, all bets are off. Some of those major advertisers include WalMart and Proctor & Gamble. I'll be writing and calling them, too. I was also a long-time fan of ATWT (god bless the VCR) and of RH,AW,GL,SB, and Capitol. So I've been thru this many times.. and it never gets easier. ABC soaps are my favorites, though, the ones I started watching when I was just a kid. I saw the very first episode of AMC when I was 16 years old and I started watching OLTL before Viki married Joe Riley the first time. Nowadays I only watch ABC soaps and OLTL is my favorite. Y & R bores me to tears, I won't watch B & B because Capitol was dumped to make room for it and I quit watching DOOL when Marlena was the Devil. Frons thinks only stay-at-home moms watch the soaps.. but he is wrong.. and even if that is still the main audience, they are the ones who control household spending, so why would he disrespect them like this ? It makes no sense.

[> Where to find sponsors (and other important info) - http://community.webtv.net/dw_m/saveoltl -- DWinPhx, 03:41:37 04/17/11 Sun [1]

http://community.webtv.net/dw_m/saveoltl has a continually updated list of OLTL sponsors and will continue to track sponsors of The Chew & The Revolution. In addition, the site is being updated with helpful and essential info for fans interested in saving the show. Add it to your bookmarks and share the link with other forums/groups/sites/link pages.

A section on alternate actions and methods of allowing OLTL to live on will be included. I'm waiting to see RB's write-up in regards to the details of the Oprah plan before putting it up.

Until they're on the page, some other stuff being bandied about:

- contacting other networks to see if they can pick up OLTL
- getting OLTL reformatted as a primetime drama series
- sending fish (inspired by Oliver Fish) and lemons (inspired by "lemon in my eye") to ABC/Disney (every save our show campaign tends to have a "gift" attached to them!)
- having OLTL live on in book/print form written by novelist and twice-former OLTL headwriter Michael Malone.

RB, thanks for mentioning stuff that needs to be said in regards to not boycotting the soaps themselves, and targeting sponsors and affiliates (again, that's all ground i've been covering at the site). Remember to include Robert Iger in your letters/calls/emails as he's above Sweeney/Frons and one or both of those people need to lose their jobs over this.

[> Re: Note to my readers................................. -- Betsy (We Need to be Unified), 03:58:42 04/17/11 Sun [1]

Just remember the what is happening in the world because citizens got on their computers, phones, etc and invited people to work togeher for a common goal. We can do this too, if we all stick together-we need team work. Hopefully another network-station will pick up the soaps. We have to be the voice and show unity and that we won't back down. Stop supporting all ABC shows-there are more fish in the sea to watch then ABC shows.( and only watch the 3 soaps till they go) If we stop supporting them on a larger scale, they won't get the advertising revenue. So, stop watching and supporting all of their advertised products. The tv shows are for us-it is our dollars that pay for the ads when we buy the advertised goods. Somehow the executives forget that we are who they should be pleasing-if not, the products won't sell and advertising dollars will dwindle. It should not be about cutting costs but rather quality. Maybe the execs can take pay cuts instead of unemploying 600 plus people. We need to keep jobs not get rid of them. The two shows that are slated to take their place may cost less to produce but they will not offer up as many jobs. Nor will they offer the comfort that the shows do. Shame on Disney for not trying to help America to recover economically: they are just pushing America into a dip hole that is hard to dig out of. We should also be boycotting Disney Parks, too. And what about, Disney movies, music, videos, Disney Channel, etc. Disney wants to play hardball with us-we can play hardball with them. It is our money that they use-so we should be able to choose what we want to watch. Isn't that fair? Stick together-we are the voice. We have the power to change things, but we have to be willing to make sacrifices and work together. Also, hope to look as good as Robin when I am her age. She looks fantastic. Ms. Handler is just a symptom of what is wrong with America. She is vile and says and does outrageous. She and all the others like her and what the networks want us to watch. I for one won't and tired of seeing such poor quality shows for the sake of money.TLC shows a woman and 8 spoiled kids out of control. What is wrong with America today? Bad shows are a like a virus spreading. We need to get rid of trash and bring back quality. I tired of quality being traded to save a buck. We will all lose more than a buck in the end.

Boycotting ABC will do no good unless you are a Neilson family. That's the only numbers they look at. They have no way to tell who isn't watching ABC on any given day nor who isn't DVRing or taping and they don't care anyway. Unless you're emailing, calling, writing to Anne Sweeney herself, no one else further down the ABC/Disney latter has any authority to change anything. Contacting the advertisers seems like a smart thing to do and may get some results but probably still won't change ABC's minds. If we can get Oprah to listen perhaps there may be some hope but I don't see ABC/Disney willing to sell the soaps.

If they're going to cancel General Hospital within a year I wish they'd just tell us now instead of continuing to lie about it and drag out the suspense!! Shame on ABC/Disney!!!!!

Thank you for keeping us updated on all this. We all have grown to love, rely on, and respect you through the years. This is just so sad and angering. I AM one of those "only housewives" who watch these shows. Lets not forget that while I may take time out of my busy day to escape and watch two hours of soaps (and even dvr them oe watch late nights on SoapNet if I am not able to watch live) I will NOT be doing the same for talk or reality shows. Who really cares if they miss a talk or reality show? Who really cares if they even see them? Not I. I'll be tuning out.

It never even occurred to me to not watch GH. I love this soap and hate that these TV icons are going to the wayside for shows that nobody is interested in. I can see the same crap on CBS & NBC. ABC offered me something more interesting; that is until they cancelled AMC & OLTL. Flipping channels a week or so ago I ran across Susan Lucci on one of the shopping channels hawking whatever it is she sells. I stopped for a minute to tell my husband that she better be do the hard sell because her show was about to be cancelled. As I was talking she literally told the host that she received a letter from the CFO of the network telling her that AMC was not in danger and that they had sufficient funds to continue doing the show. I like to think that people don't lie but it just seemed a bit far-fetched that she would have received a letter from the CFO making this claim. I didn't buy it and less than two weeks later the axe falls. I will refuse to watch the soap replacements but will always support GH!

[> Re: Note to my readers................................. -- PGP, 11:52:38 04/17/11 Sun [1]

As I have said before I was never a GH watcher and will not become one now. OLTL is the only ABC soap watch and honestly it will be the last ABC soap I watch. I will not ask others to boycott GH either. That is not fair to them, but it is not fair to the stars of primetime shows to ask fans to start boycotting their shows simply because a bunch of executive cowards. It is so unfair to the cast of AMC that they asked them to relocate only to cancel the show shortly after, I didn't even think about that! They should be ashamed of themselves! It is also so distasteful that a network would kill a show like OLTL when it continues to opperate on or ahead of budget! I will not tune into this new garbage that they put in its place any more than I have tuned into Lets Make a Deal since CBS took off my beloved GL! Though I suppose the writing was on the wall once GL was cancelled. As many predicted it has started to trigger the domino effect in the soap world! Will the shows find a new home? I doubt it. GL didn't though I suppose you never know...until then we can at least enjoy what we have left. Fans of GH do not give up on the show...I won't tune in but you should stay tuned if you are a fan...Fans of the other three DAYS, YR, BB same goes for you...its only a matter of time! I am sorry!

I'm sorry I still can't support General Hospital when All My Children's and One Life To Live will no longer be on my screen. General Hospital has always gotten better treatment than the other two shows. When they were not always the better show or had the best rating. This has nothing to do with the actresses and actors on the show, but I stopped watching when they fired Rebecca then hired her back that was it for me. The PTB have never cared about what the fans wanted to see they always went ahead with their agender. I also have felt that the stars of GH felt they had the upper hand on the other soaps because they were Frons Pets and it showed. So no I will not support General Hospital.

[> List of sponsors to get you guys started........... -- Ravenbeauty, 21:33:23 04/17/11 Sun [1]

When you contact them, please be respectful. If you only tell them that you are upset over the cancellation of your shows, your calls and e-mails will fall on dear ears. You need to tell them that you will not watch any of the new replacement shows, and will not see any of their commercials anymore. That you are boycotting ABC after the shows go off the air, and for them to prepare themselves for a drop in sales once the shows are gone. Make sure to let them know that you will not be tuning into the new shows, and that you cannot support a network that has done what ABC just did to the cast of AMC by allowing them to give up their lives in NY and move to California knowing full well that they had every intention of canceling the show! Let them know how much OLTL & AMC mean to you, and how relevant and important they are to you, and the many generations before you. Just thought I would drop these by for people who want to get started right away! Have a wonderful weekend guys! XOXO!

[> [> Re: List of sponsors to get you guys started........... -- oneatatime (ready to fight), 11:12:22 04/18/11 Mon [1]

Thank you for this list, RB!

One thing I know about corporations: no one (ie, Frons, Sweeney, Iger) likes for their boss (the suits Disney) to know that people are complaining about them. At the same time, no boss (ie, Disney's CEO, its head of marketing, and its board of trustees) likes to be pulled into,or even aware, of any employee's (Frons, Sweeney, Iger) problems. The higher-ups expect the people they manage to put out their own fires before it ever comes to the attention of the boss. The suits at Diseny will NOT appreciate being copied on any correspondence about about Frons/Sweeney/boycotts--which is exactly why we need to copy the suits.

When you write letters to ABC, copy anyone you can at Disney. When you write to sponsors, copy anyone you can at ABC AND Disney. The fastest way to get rid of Frons and Sweeney is to let their bosses see first-hand what a sh*t storm this has created.

I don't know who those people are, but a search of the Disney corporate web site should reveal the names & addresses of the CEO, CFO, President, Board of Trustees (or its head), and (just as importantly) its head of marketing. Copy any and all of them every time you write a letter to ABC or one of the sponsors you write or email.

Thanks for the list of sponsers, Raven. This will really help a lot. I've also got another idea, we take the fight to Disney. Namely Robert Iger, CEO of Disney. If everyone contacted Iger's office and politely inform them of our position. That we are not lemmings and that no one at ABC can tell us what we want and don't want based upon their game plan. Let them know that Disney is putting 600 + families at risk and that we will get the word out that Disney is anti family. We can start a Facebook page for just that purpose and feature a different family each week.
With 600 + families, that's something that will haunt them for a very long time. I know that Disney is an industry giant, but that just means they have a bigger eye to blacken.

here is the article from last year: hopefully someone will buy ABC:

Disney Insider Trading Scandal Fuels Chatter About ABC Sale
Wall Street Journal ^ | May 26, 2010

Posted on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 5:03:32 PM by Zakeet

The insider trading scandal that erupted at The Walt Disney Co. (DIS) on Wednesday led to more speculation that the media giant is considering a sale of its ABC broadcast network, although the company denied that negotiations are taking place.

Shares of Disney rose 2.3% to $33.07 Wednesday after reports that Bonnie Hoxie, administrative assistant to Zenia Mucha, the company's head of communications, was arrested in Los Angeles along with her boyfriend, Yonni Sebbag. The two were charged with trying to sell insider information, including word that Disney Chief Executive Robert Iger was in "serious and advanced negotiations with two private equity firms" to sell ABC, but no price had been determined, according to the criminal complaint.

"The reference in the complaint to conversations regarding the ABC Network were and are false," Disney said in a statement.

The company also said it was cooperating fully with the investigation. Representatives for Disney couldn't be reached for further comment.

Even with that denial, the disclosure lent to speculation about a potential sale of ABC that has been garnering attention in the media and on Wall Street in recent months. Several ABC employees say it has become the subject of speculation internally.

For his part, Iger hasn't ruled out the possibility of a sale when asked about it publicly.

To all the loyal ABC soap fans,
I want you to know from me personally that we hear you loud and clear. My wife and mother are both passionate viewers of All My Children and One Life to Live, as are many of my colleagues here at Hoover. We were and are as disappointed with this news as you are.

In fact, we will discontinue our advertising with ABC this Friday, 4/22. We're making every attempt to pull our spots from these programs sooner.

Because we feel that’s not enough, we also want to help get your voice heard with ABC. So, we’ve set up a special email address, SaveTheSoaps@Hoover.com, to help pull together the mass emotional outpouring of support for our beloved ABC soaps and get it to our contacts at ABC. Please, send your emails to us at SaveTheSoaps@Hoover.com, and we’ll get every, single last one of them to ABC.

We’re 150% committed to doing what matters most to you – so if there’s anything else we can do to help or you have any ideas, please email this address, and we will respond to you personally.

Thank you for standing up for what matters to you! We need more of that in this world.

Is that the only way they log ratings?
How would ABC know if and when I was watching AMC OLTL or GH if i didnt have a Nielsen box?
I don't know one person ever in my life who has one.

They don't count people who DVR the show because we are not watching the commercials.
Thats all that matters to Frons.

If you're not a Nielsen viewer, one way you can be counted is by watching the show on the official ABC-hosted OLTL website (not YouTube but the actual site) - Disney's able to track how many hits and clicks the site gets.

I can't beleive it, but an advertiser has actually stood up to Disney and pulled its advertisements from ABC for cancelling AMC and OLTL...chances are nothing will be done, but this didn't happen when GL and ATWT were canned from CBS...could ABC actually bitten off more than they could chew? I wonder if things would have been easier for them had they only cancelled one soap? There are a lot of people hoping that Oprah will have a change of heart and take AMC and OLTL to her OWN network and perhaps she will who knows, but what if she only takes one and then how do you decide which one to take?

Oprah may not be able to raise the capital on her own to buy out the franchise, but perhaps it might be a collaborative effort. She is a huge ABC daytime fan, has her own network now, and a great deal of pull out there. It's worth a try. Tell Oprah how much it would mean to you to see the shows on her network (and what a ratings boost it would be). God bless Hoover for having the guts to take a stand! Here is what I left on their Facebook page:

You are doing an amazing thing here. You have shown people everywhere that your company stands for something more than just the almighty dollar. What you have done took a lot of courage and strength of character. So many of us are proud to call ourselves customers of yours today. What ABC is doing is based solely on greed. They w...ere not losing money. They were not going into the hole here. They did this because they are greedy and soulless. These shows mean something to millions and millions of Americans. They are richly woven into the very fabric of America. Now the wonderful actors who have entertained us for years will face an industry with nothing but reality shows. Many will be unemployed for extended periods of time. All that will be left for them are scraps. This was not a business decision. This was a bargain made in hell, and viewers want no part of it.

Hey Raven, you might want to check in to this before you publish it, or you much just throw it out there & see if it sticks. You know that Hoover pulled their ads because the wife of the pres of Hoover was/is a big ABC daytime fan? True. Spouses have a lot of say...that being said, Robert A. Iger - the pres/CEO of Disney, his wife is Willow Bay...who happens to be a blogger over at the Huffington Post. I couldn't find a direct e-mail/contact page for her, but there is a way to contact the Huffington Post to alert them about news stories...I sent them the below, perhaps others might be interested in doing something similar? It can't hurt, right? Have a good one, Raven. Hugs!

This might be of interest to Willow Bay in particular. A GREAT number of TV fans are boycotting Disney their choice to cancel a couple of TV shows has given many people who control household budgets a cause to contact sponsors about. Hershey, General Mills, Target. Hoover has already signed off. Who will be next? Does Disney truly care about their consumers like they say in their Standards of Business Conduct Welcome Letter penned by Robert A. Iger? Seems to me that cancelling a couple of shows was a bad business decision on the part of Brian Frons – the president of ABC Daytime, and in direct violation of those standards. Perhaps Mr. Iger should be contacted to see if he's willing to go back on his word...or if he's willing to be heard by the people who put Disney where it is.

Although I support the support for saving soaps, there are those militant extremists who are taking this too far and bashing Oprah. She spoke her peace, even though she owed none of us an explanation. She is not investing in or trying to save soaps with her OWN network. Why should she? Oprah is not the Soap Messiah. The time for that is long gone. I hope as we move forward with our protest and fight to save soaps, we do it respectfully. Oprah Winfrey may not be able to help save soaps, but she is an ally and a force to be reckoned with.

I would ask that we treat all advertisers and anyone who will listen with respect and stop the bashing.

Please spread the word. Bash Frons. Not Oprah.

Thanks
