That is great to hear it is coming along. I don't have much advice to offer, more of a reflection on my experience. I had cantering issues with the mare I am riding now. When we first got her, I really don't think she even knew she could canter! It has been coming, but it is so tough with them because they give the look of having a great canter, uphil canter, but then you have to make sure they are THROUGH. My whole goal for the winter is just establishing inside leg to outside rein in canter, to make sure she is working though and not just faking it by slowing down. They just have such a hard time with the carrying quality of the hind leg (stifle). So , when I ask for that connection, or a half halt in canter, it is much easier for her to either go really slow in canter, drop back to trot than to CARRY that weight. So then it was the whole drilling foward thing again, which then just causes the inside shoulder to fall in and the rushing on forhand. She needs to be taught essentially, that she CAN carry, and this will take time and conditioning. It seems to be a real friesian problem..they just arent bred to carry or canter, but it is nice to see they are selecting for that agressively now with the newer stallions. Thank goodness for their WONDERFUL temperments. I have never had a horse with such incredible try and heart. It really makes alot possible!

Good luck and keep us updated.
