I also have a 4 yr oldf friesian who is a bit spooky. When he gets spooked he will try to get away, but fortunately i am able to stop him from bolting. When mine does this with me, I do a lot of circles, changes of direction, turn on the forehand, etc... It doesn't look pretty as he is crooked, and tense, but after a while, he becomes more focused. Of course the next time it is windy out we go through the same things. But it helps to keep him really really busy so that he starts to look to me for direction.
If you find something better, please let me know. I always thought friesians were supposed to be spook proof... ha ha
