Subject: Hair and the Keur

Last night I went to put my just turned 4 year old gelding into the barn for the night, and discovered that he had rubbed off (raw in some areas) a 10 inch section of his beautiful, thick, long mane. It was fine in the morning when I turned him out. I was planning to bring him to Keur this fall, he was given a 2e premie rating as a foal. Should I wait until next year so more of his hair can grow back?
I cleaned and treated the area and the skin looked significantly better this morning (might be sweet itch, vet is coming tomorrow to look at it)but it will take a while for that hair to grow back in. The rest of his mane is at about 24 inches long. I could've cried when I saw it!
