Subject: thin friesian

My 3 yr old gelding has always been on the thin side....he seems to be growing UP at a tremendous rate....he's almost l7hh, but not bulking out. He's quite narrow with a huge head. had him checked for worms and started him on a feed thru formular recommended by vet. Still he's not gaining.
Is this normal for Friesians? He appears and acts healthy and happy. We are starting his training this spring and I am concerned about his weight. He gets 4 flakes of hay a day and a good grain without sugar. thanks for any feedback.
