Subject: Sheath cleaning

O.K. not a subject we like to talk about but we all have to deal with it ourselves or pay someone who will do it for us. Here is my question. I have a gelding who was not gelded until he was three years old. I don't think this has anything to do with what I want to know but I thought I would at least mention it in case. I could probably clean his sheath out at least once a month or even more often. He has never had a bean but he gets so much smegma inside his sheath that sometimes I find it on the inside of his hind leg. I don't think he has an infection or anything as he has been this way since I have owned him and he is 8 years old. I owned a mare prior to this so I don't know if this is common in Friesian geldings or just my gelding. Please any input or advice would be appreciated. He is very good about letting me do this but other horse owners that I have talked to don't clean their horses nearly as much as I have to do him. Denise
