Subject: Weight of yearling

We recently slighgtly changed the diet for my yearling. Mainly because she came home from boarding at a stable that had absolutly no green grass for the horses unless you took them for a walk to some. So I used to do that. slowly letting her graze in increacing increments over 2 months untill we would stay out grazing for 2 hours, on a lead line! That way when we brought her home she could handle the green pasture we have here a little better. So a month has passed. shes out at the most for 7 hours a day depending on the heat. She likes it in her stall so she'll go in and out. I don't think she's actually grazing more than 4 hours a day. Any way she s looking like she's gaining to fast and I want to slow it down. Do I
A) reduce the grain? That hasn't changed much. She went from 4 1/2# s to 5# a day. And when I weighed her tonight with the tape it said she weighs 720#'s
B) Reduce her hay? she's eating 3 flakes a day. That's what I think. or
C) Reduce her grazing time. I hate to do that, she belongs out doors. She has a blast running in and out of her stall! Her stools are nice and she looks very healthy, shes just looking a little round. She runs every day at will.
Thanks
Randy
