Subject: to braid or not to???

I have heard that you should keep your Friesians mane braided all the time. I heard that it helps keep it from getting ripped out and also helps it grow longer. Is there any truth to that? I braided my Joeps mane but it gets messed up very fast. How long do you keep the braids in, how often should you wash there mane? What do you use to wash it with? I have lots of mane n tail. Will that work? Any info would be helpful as I do not wish to mess his mane up by keeping it braided all the time (if its not good to) Does any one else here keep there horses manes braided? Thanks, Megan
