Thanks for all your input thus far. I ride D.C. in the ring (at least 4 times), but also take him out on trails, because he just loves it so much!

Saskia (you are from Holland are you?)- how are Farriers (in German we would say Hufschmied) handling the feathers - do they use wraps to put them up so that they are not in the way while shoes are being put on?

Another thing - I am so thrilled today my D.C. did a perfect canter lead change (with me) and I have to admit that my skills are far below from his.... we bought him knowing he could do level 2 dressage. I am still on cloud 9!!!
