Ahh.. Thank you Kelsey for your words of wisdom. I like the idea of it being an independent assessment of each horse, rather than a comparison between them. And you are right, Liu is not super young-looking. He is pretty big and tall. I think of him being gawky more so in his movement. My problem with him right now is that I can't get one of his hind shoes to stay on. The shoer's been back once already to reshoe him and it fell off again. The longer he stays unshod, the more torn up his hoof gets, and the harder it is for him to get shod... vicious cycle, and more vicious because I can't work him to get him in shape without a shoe! So, I won't stress about it. It actually is great that you can bring horses back when they are older, and maybe I'll have to do that. Thanks for your sharing your balanced views! Muriel
