Subject: Searching for first Friesian

I am searcing for my first Friesian, I'm very excited yet scared all at the same time. We are not looking for a show horse, this is a middle age womans dream (I'm 50) that this horse will be a family pet. We are looking at colts and fillies. I know it will be years before I can ride, but I have a 17 yr. old Tennessee Walker I ride. My question is when I go online to AGDirect and some of those websites, I can find young ones for $6-8 thousand. I have a very good breeder right down the road from me, where I can see the little ones, see the personality and feel what I am buying. Would these horses that come from far away be any different that it would be worth saving the 2-4 thousand dollars. The one I am looking at is 10,000. He is from Anne 340, his mom just died from colic, but her father was Wander 352. Once again, I'm not looking for a show horse, that is the breeding down the road here. I am from Iowa if that would make a difference. I appreciate any help you can give me. This is a dream I do hope to come true. Thanks for your help,

Cindy
