Subject: Judging and the loin issue

Hi Kyla,

this is a very pertinent issue, when standardizing our judging forms for the FOA we took the Dutch and German criteria and formulated a judging sheet that included all the items judged by both for our own use. This was then submitted to the USEF licensed Friesian judges for comment prior to their use at our inspections, and curiously enough, three of our four US judges commented that the loin was not sufficiently evaluated on our sheets. We have now included that as part of our evaluation in judging per their recomendations. It might be interesting to note that our selected US judges all have a background in dressage, either as judges or competitors, most as both. The evaluaion of the loin is a very important point, one we now include in our inspections.
