Hi

My horse wears a blanket in winter, as do many horses in holland. The best way to protect long manes is braiding them. This way the blanket doesn't 'rub'the individual hair but complete braids, and no blanket is harsh enough to pull out complete braids. Also braided manes don't get tangled so you won't have to comb them as often as you would now, which also reduces mane-loss.
