Welcome to the United States of Beauty Forum!

The purpose of this board is to create a forum in which pageant fans, delegates, contestants, etc, can post and view messages which are DIRECTLY related to the Miss Universe pageant system. Our mission is to provide a civil environment where all are welcome - from dial-up to cable. Because of this we ask those posting pictures to be considerate of others and downsize larger pictures. Please use common sense as to the number of photos you provide within a post. we suggest larger numbers of photos within one post to be posted as a "click in". This is no place for continuous and unrelenting bashing - in a MEAN and INTENTIONAL fashion. It won't be tolerated. We all know that this may mean different things to different people, so let's just use some common sense here. It's one thing to not like someone and say so, it's another to CONTINUALLY bash this same person by using different handles. In addition, ads, banners and posts concerning clothing for sale, etc, will be deleted. There are plenty of consignment forums and other options for those who want to sell their goods or products. Finally, we encourage all participants to respect the flow of the board. We respectfully request that you not stop the flow of discussion with personal attacks directed at other members of the board. If this occurs, we request you take those personal attacks off the board and settle your problems with each other personally through email. We have several posters on this board who have a sense of humor that some may find offensive, especially if you are a first time visitor. Please understand that we do have thought provoking conversations, but there are some posters (BamaMan, Gladys, Miss USA 2007 Contendor and the remainder of her family just to name a few) who are posting in a joking manner. All complains are welcome but we request you do so via email. There is a button below to contact all the moderators per email. Complaints on the board will be unapproved.

Hey guys! It's Nersey, (aka Jessica Boyington, NJ USA 06)!

Sorry to clutter up this board, but I need your help! I work for Sirius Radio on the Covino and Rich Show on the Maxim channel and we are looking for some girls to be guests on the show! You can be current titleholders, formers, or just a girl willing to help out some dudes with relationship advice!

Subject: Miss MD USA 2009 Orientation Update! (Sorry it's sooo long!)
Author: MD Mama [Edit]	Date Posted: 11:20:43 10/06/08 Mon Hi Guys! As some of you may know, the orientation for the MD USA pageant was yesterday, and boy is it going to be a good show! As usual, the staff and directors were fantastic and this year�s production promises to be both exciting and entertaining!! :-) But to get to the juicy stuff (which is what I am sure you are all interested in!) there were some great girls there yesterday. Let me start by saying the current title holders looked amazing! Cassandra was flawless and Ana Marie was absolutely adorable! As for 2009 contestants, there were a lot of girls. I�d have to say about 80ish but I could be wrong. From last year�s top 5, Amber Gwin, Ashleigh Hunt and Niambi Powell were all there but Courtney Heijl wasn�t and if Carla Hornbeck was there � I didn�t notice her. Amber Gwin looked cute. I know that she is a fan favorite but I have never �got� her. She looked pretty and in shape but she has just never really done it for me. Niambi looked beautiful. She was very confident and poised and for all of you that were a fan of her beautiful and natural hairstyle of last year � I think you may be getting your wish. She was sporting a rather large lovely �do that leads me to believe she will be going au naturale this year again. Ashleigh Hunt: Hmmmm� First let me say that she was very pretty. I wouldn�t call her a stunner (but again, she�s never been my top pick so�) but she did look very �ready�. Although she did have her hair done in a very �farrah fawcett� style which I wasn�t crazy about � I hope she leaves it sleek and straight for the pageant. On a side note � I just have to vent for a second. While I know that many have coined Ashleigh as �the one to beat� � and that may be very true � I have to say that she was not very friendly at all. She only talked with the pageant staff and Amber Gwin and gave one word answers to others that were trying to say Hi. I�m sure she is a very sweet girl but if she may be our future Miss MD USA � I would really like her to be more personable and sweet. Its just what I expect from a title holder, I suppose! :-) She perpetually had a �pissed off� look that, to me, lessened her attractiveness. Again � not trying to bash, these are just my opinions! Okay � now that we�re through the top five � here are the rest! Heather Storm (or Strom?!?! Not really sure). Very very very pretty girl with very pretty features. Not sure what her pageant experience is � but I thought she was beautiful! Gabrielle Carlson � she looked great and definitely had a much for mature and sophisticated vibe than she did last year. She�s definitely cute. I just hope she doesn't have another contestant picture like the one she did last year! She looked very, ummm, not impressive in that photo and I don't think it represented her accurately at all. Nicole Ortiz � definitely revamped her look and tried to look more mature and poised and less �teen�. I think it worked and she looked great! Brittany Reichenbach - I think she is a pretty girl but I think her styling is all wrong. She comes off as very �trashy� (sorry! Don�t hate me, it�s the only way I can describe it!!). She was wearing a purple dress that was much too tight and revealing for my taste. I think if she changes it up a bit � she could really do well this year. Susanne Vaughn � I love love love this girl. I think she is sweet and absolutely adorable! BUT � it�s that �adorable� part that worries me. When I look at her, I see the perfect teen but not a Miss YET. She is beautiful and will go far but at the moment she looks just too young to be a contender for Miss. Prita � Don�t know a last name (I was just able to read her name tag). This girl was stunningly beautiful! Very exotic and seemed like a very sweet girl. I don�t recognize her from MD last year, but she did seem to know the staff and directors so she may have competed before. I think I may have overheard her say that she did DC last year � and if that is the case, I do think I remember her. Although, if it is her, she looks waaaaay better than she did at the DC pageant and is someone I consider a strong contender this year!! Girl in the Blue Dress � Okay, I don�t know this girl�s name at all (so if anyone does, please chime in!). She was wearing a royal blue dress with a black belt, had long brown hair and looked to me like she was Latina. All I can say about this girl is WOW! She is absolutely beautiful!!! She had a great body, a great smile and based one what I saw yesterday � I would definitely put her in the top 5!! So overall � If I had to create a top 5 based on what I saw yesterday I would put these girls in it: Ashleigh Hunt � even though I don�t �get� her, I know she is a strong competitor. Courtney Heigl � didn�t see her, but I really don�t see how she could not make the top 5!! Prita � As long as she has pageant experience and knows how to walk and pick a proper wardrobe (which I think she will), I�d put her in the top 5. Girl in the Blue Dress � ha. Don�t know her name � but I love her! Niambi Powell � this girl is fantastic!! So there you have it! And again, these are just my opinions and I am not attempting to bash any one in any way! A title hog is a person that shows little regard for fellow contestants by continuously choosing to compete when they currently holds multiple titles in one given year. On ValleyQueens.com there is a photo album. I don't know what the other states are doing, but this website covered Miss Texas USA last year and this year. You can find pictures of all the girls in their interview attire. You may need to scroll down for the album you're looking for for this year and my guess is that last year's is on the second page. Anywho, Texas is getting away from the interview suit and wearing professional dresses. There you will find alot of cute styles and you can get some neat ideas! Hope this helps. I know for us MAO girls when we win the state title, we give up school (or work) for a year to take on the job of Miss State. We are paid for appearances (except for a few considered charity and appearing at your home local to crown) and Miss State is your full time job. For many Miss State programs, it's a fairly well paid job that keeps you very busy, between making appearances and getting ready for Miss America. Formers, feel free to chime in. Did you give up a year of school/work to serve as Miss State USA? Were you paid for appearances? Did you have sponsors for your Miss USA wardrobe, or did you have to pay for it yourself? Maybe these state directors who are outside of the states they produce in, could appoint an "assistant state director" to handle appearance requests of the titleholders and negotiate appearance fees.
