Welcome to the United States of Beauty Forum!
Contact the ModSquad for any Complaints, Questions or Comments.
The purpose of this board is to create a forum in which pageant fans, delegates, contestants, etc, can post and view messages which are DIRECTLY related to the Miss Universe pageant system. Our mission is to provide a civil environment where all are welcome - from dial-up to cable. Because of this we ask those posting pictures to be considerate of others and downsize larger pictures. Please use common sense as to the number of photos you provide within a post. we suggest larger numbers of photos within one post to be posted as a "click in". This is no place for continuous and unrelenting bashing - in a MEAN and INTENTIONAL fashion. It won't be tolerated. We all know that this may mean different things to different people, so let's just use some common sense here. It's one thing to not like someone and say so, it's another to CONTINUALLY bash this same person by using different handles. In addition, ads, banners and posts concerning clothing for sale, etc, will be deleted. There are plenty of consignment forums and other options for those who want to sell their goods or products. Finally, we encourage all participants to respect the flow of the board. We respectfully request that you not stop the flow of discussion with personal attacks directed at other members of the board. If this occurs, we request you take those personal attacks off the board and settle your problems with each other personally through email. We have several posters on this board who have a sense of humor that some may find offensive, especially if you are a first time visitor. Please understand that we do have thought provoking conversations, but there are some posters (BamaMan, Gladys, Miss USA 2007 Contender and the remainder of her family just to name a few) who are posting in a joking manner. All complaints are welcome but we request you do so via email. There is a button below to contact all the moderators per email. Complaints on the board will be unapproved.

Hey, everybody is talking about the lady who was crowned miss Universe, what about the lady who almost got the crown? What about the 1st runner-up? Here are my views.
Venezuela 2000: Better and more deserving than other venezuelan delegates who placed in the top 5 or more, but still nowhere near the actual winner.
Greece 2001: A true diva and with the best body in MU history, IMO. She was my personal favorite, even though PR did a great job that night. I still think that Greece would have promoted a healthier and more natural image than PR, who was your typical latin beauty (overrehearsed and not very natural, plus with the crowd cheering 4 her), and I would love to see a beauty like Evelina capturing the crown. Denise was a great choice of course, but we all have our favorites!
Panama 2002: Cute, but Russia was a goddess, one of the best faces and bodies pageantry has ever seen. In an overall weak year, Panama was a deserving 1st runner-up, but in no way equal to the winner.
Venezuela 2003: None of the top 2 was my favorite, but clearly DR was better than Venezuela, who seemed more natural and down-to-earth than other venezuelan delegates, but I will never understand how she became 2nd.
USA 2004: A classical american beauty, who would make a great MU, but Australia was unbeatable that night.
PR 2005: No, no and NO! Among the unnatural, fake, arrogant and overrehearsed latin delegates we have seen all over the years, she was by far the worst. I didn't like her at all, I hope I'm not starting the 3rd World War here!
Japan 2006: I liked the actual winner, but I adored this one! We have a repetition of 2001, where the most elegant, natural, down-to-earth and stunning delegate was beaten by the robotic and overrehearsed latin beauty. Yes, PR was lovely that night (even though she became awful during her reign), but Japan was the epitome of class and beauty.
Brazil 2007: Even though Japan was not my favorite (I was cheering for Korea), she still was miles ahead from Brazil, who looked like she was 40! A big NO once more.
Colombia 2008: How did she get 2nd place? The winner was absolutely fantastic and we are talking about a very well-deserved victory from Venezuela. But I could see at least 20 girls placing over Colombia, whose placing is waaaaay beyond me.
DR 2009: Each and every single one of the delegates would be a more deserving MU than the actual winner. That said, DR was not my favorite but way more deserving than Venezuela.

Overall, my absolute favorite 1st runner-up would be either Greece 01 or Japan 06. They both have everything that a contemporary and healthy delegate should have. Both of them stunning, elegant, natural and with a great sense of fashion. What do you all think?

Subject: QUESTION ---> Gay contestant?

What to do?

Hello y'all!

I have a quick question and would love to hear your comments on it.

What do you guys think about a titleholder who is open and expressive about her being gay? Not about her being gay, about her being OPEN about it. Has it happened before?

What about if the contestant is a teen?

I have coached a WONDERFUL and BEAUTIFUL girl for a pageant. Everytime you google her name, her myspace and facebook pages come up first and in each of those she claims she is gay.

Now, I personally do not even take that fact into account when I evaluate her options of getting the bigger title (I trust she'll do incredibly well), HOWEVER, I am a little concerned that if and when she wins that title she is competing for, obviously others will google her and find that info and create controversy about it someway or another. Will that hurt her chances? Will that create an awful environment for her in the next pageant? how open are we all pageant fans and contestants about something like this?

I'd appreciate your comments but please, remember this is not about homosexuality and if it is "right or wrong" but rather how the industry and members take it and approach it.

Thanks much!
