Before the pageant arrived in Palm Springs, the circus had begun getting ready for the contestants. Everyday girls were getting emails to "strongly support" this or that sponsor so the if they made the top15, the gown, shoes or swimsuit would cover and fit properly. This all coming to them one month to 2 days before having to arrive in PS. Well, who doesn't want that? So, anyone who wanted to be competitive forked out extra cash at the last minute. Oh, and the swimsuit sponsor was a CONTESTANT too! New questions sent out Wednesday to be answered asap by the new PR people because they were suppose to print them or put them on video somewhere, with most contestants leaving on Thursday. Where are those posted anyway? Arrival went smoothly with check-in and registration. Progam books were well done and affordable. Rehearsals were good with ok boxed meals. Friday BBQ was a disaster...$20 to eat cold a veggie burger and green limp salad in the dark freezing cold outside. Girls had to wait for way too long to get to their 20 minute meeting before they could go to bed. Teens had to be on the bus at 6 the next morning so that meant they had to be up at 4 to get ready. ZZZZZ...Prelims were fine, nice venue, Tami carried the show, Chelsea was ok but do these girls really live in CA because they couldn't pronounce cities and were rude about the judges......memorize their faces parents, not funny Tami. And greasy Keith, calling out teen judge #3 from the stage mic because she was being careful with her scoring to hurry up so the show could progress. Low class there, Keith. Judges are volunteers, respect them! Miss prelim was well done but you could tell that was the 1st time they were walking on that stage since they were given no stage practice time. Beauty of CA dinner could have been so much better. Keith was trying to reveal the new crown while not capturing the audience's attention so it was very noisy and not the reveal it could have been to honor the sponsor. But, the sponsor was sweet and thoughtful in his comments and the crown was a beauty. Food was ok, DJ was ridiculous. No structure to the event as Raquel Beezley was trying to give out awards and most of the girls were in the other building for pictures for some "collage" which I am sure, like the PR questions, was an idea which went nowhere. Where is this so called collage and the pictures of these girls going to be posted??? Strange. The DJ says the girls have 10 more minutes of dancing and a house mom and a man come yelling wildly throughout the ballroom for all girls to leave immediately and go to the other building for a meeting. Aweful way to end a mediocure event. Girls get to bed by midnight, up at 4, check out of their rooms and on the bus by 6. It's finals day and things are frantic. House mom's are yelling and tired, girls are stressed and exhausted, where's the fun here? Miss Finals: Venue is amazing. Male emcee did an awesome job and was the most prefesstional I have seen hired by K2. Top 15 was called and of course there were some surprises like Nicole Chui not being called. Swimsuit first with some awesome presentations like Nicole Johnson, Sarah Chapman, Nana Meriweather and Jessica Morgan. Fit and amazing women. Loved the accessories and masks. Top 10 called: shocked that Lacey Bollinger and Sarah Chapman were left out of the 10. Chapman had one of the best bodies in the pageant and Lacey has legs to die for...Top 5 called after evening gown: I personally think the judges misplaced some of the beauties. I was happy to see Nicole Johnson in there and Brandi Malloy as they were the 2 beauties in the top 5. I don't find Nana M. or Jessica Morgan attractive at all in the face. Yes, they can rock the runway but do not have a Miss USA face and that is what the judges should be looking for. As for Nia Sanchez, pretty but looked like a teen in the face and would not fair well at USA either yet. She needs to wait a year or two and come back for the crown. Nicloe winning was no surprise as she has Katie Blair and others in the K2 MUO pageant realm working with her. (Hope the Michal Phelps thing doesn't haunt her) Oh, the double crowning was such a joke. I figured finally crowning Tami because she had done a good job this year was very appropriate but the way it was done took the specialness out of the whole segment. Another good idea, like the bbq, dinner, questions, collage, sponsor support, ect that was half-assed done. Get some carry through K2 and this weekend could have been a perfect score. The pathetic part of the Miss pageant was allowing the bashing of the top5 from formers, especially Brittney Hogan and Tamiko Nash, and Shanna on screen while the top5 were waiting to be scored. Very low class and tasteless and extremely disappointed in the formers participation, but expected of uncontrolled vomit mouth Shanna. What price fame??? Too bad. Teen finals: went well except Katie Blair should NEVER have a mic in her had again. What an idiot. Something weird happened in the calling out of the top 5 placement. Not sure what but you will have to watch the video to see that clearly some mistake was made here. It will probably be kept quiet because no one cares about the teens anyway. Oh, Keith, wash your hair and shave. Didn't your mama teach you anything? You are representing MUO when you are in public and you looked like a grease ball hot mess. Shanna, your style has gone to hell and back. Wear a bra for crying out loud. Your boobs have seen better days and if you are the role model for the CA young women, heaven help us all. Well, some good, a lot bad, hey, it's all about money right, oh, I mean the girls.......sigh....
