Welcome to the United States of Beauty Forum!
Contact the ModSquad for any Complaints, Questions or Comments.
The purpose of this board is to create a forum in which pageant fans, delegates, contestants, etc, can post and view messages which are DIRECTLY related to the Miss Universe pageant system. Our mission is to provide a civil environment where all are welcome - from dial-up to cable. Because of this we ask those posting pictures to be considerate of others and downsize larger pictures. Please use common sense as to the number of photos you provide within a post. we suggest larger numbers of photos within one post to be posted as a "click in". This is no place for continuous and unrelenting bashing - in a MEAN and INTENTIONAL fashion. It won't be tolerated. We all know that this may mean different things to different people, so let's just use some common sense here. It's one thing to not like someone and say so, it's another to CONTINUALLY bash this same person by using different handles. In addition, ads, banners and posts concerning clothing for sale, etc, will be deleted. There are plenty of consignment forums and other options for those who want to sell their goods or products. Finally, we encourage all participants to respect the flow of the board. We respectfully request that you not stop the flow of discussion with personal attacks directed at other members of the board. If this occurs, we request you take those personal attacks off the board and settle your problems with each other personally through email. We have several posters on this board who have a sense of humor that some may find offensive, especially if you are a first time visitor. Please understand that we do have thought provoking conversations, but there are some posters (BamaMan, Gladys, Miss USA 2007 Contender and the remainder of her family just to name a few) who are posting in a joking manner. All complaints are welcome but we request you do so via email. There is a button below to contact all the moderators per email. Complaints on the board will be unapproved.

Subject: My daughter competed in a Miss Stated Pageant and she didn’t make it as a semifinalist. I was crushed. I suggested to her that she needs to get a pageant coach, so she had. As a mother, I want to protect my daughter, her heart and her feelings. She has the looks but to be honest, I don’t feel her resume can compete with the girls that made it as semifinalist. She’s 23 years old in community college and by the time the next pageant comes around, she would not be a graduate. She has little modeling and acting experience, works fulltime goes to school at night and still with her busy schedule she finds the time to work her passion, community service. Do I have it wrong? Does she have a chance? Many of the girls in the pageant were recruited; she simply applied on her own. I know the state pageant system looks for girls who look good in person as well on paper. Could anyone on the board give me some advice?

Hi Shana!
I know all the state pageants are a little different... in California during interview; how are the judges briefed in regards to political questions and current events?? In my homestate there were no political questions at all. what about CA?????

If April Soderstrum looks anything like her picture in person and if her body matches her face.... she's got it in the bag. Wow!

Subject: Transforming from a Teen to a Miss

Looking at the pics of Rachael Carollo I started reflecting about a subject...:

What does it take to successfully transform from a Teen winner to a Miss winner?

As you might know, I'm one of those who always have a soft spot for former teens. Every year after Miss Teen USA I look at the contestants and think "awwww... I want to see her again as a Miss". Sometimes we say about a teen that "in a few years she'll be a great Miss". However, not every teen manages to transform successfully. Some just take their teen looks to the Miss level, which usually doesn't work to well (ex. Rachael Carollo or Meagan Winnings when she first tried to become Miss Nebraska USA). Some actually don't mature but look more teen at the miss level than as a teen (ex. Brittany Acosta last year in Illinois, Tori Hall at Miss USA). Some were once beautiful but somehow just dissapoint when they compete a few years later (ex. Raevan Valadez and Brittany Tiner - actually they nearly look too mature now. And I don't speak about wrinkles but about the styling). And some get overlooked for reasons completely unknown to me (ex. Niambi Powell, Crystle Glidden, Serene Aandahl, Lauren Taylor, Brenna Mader etc. There are so many!!)

But their are also girls who manage to look so much hotter when they compete at the miss level and who actually transform very well. Some who once had the cute teen look but then look like sexy, glamourous women. Prime examples for me would be Chelsea Cooley, Courtney Lopez (wow!), Aureana Tseu, Jacqueline Bruno, Rachel Smith, Amber Copley etc.

So what do you guys think: What would you tell a former teen for her Miss competition? What should she consider when it comes to her styling? Should she wear her teen gown again? What about the make-up?

And who, in your opinion, managed to successfully transform from a teen to a miss look - and who didn't (why?)?
