Welcome to the United States of Beauty Forum!
Contact the ModSquad for any Complaints, Questions or Comments.
The purpose of this board is to create a forum in which pageant fans, delegates, contestants, etc, can post and view messages which are DIRECTLY related to the Miss Universe pageant system. Our mission is to provide a civil environment where all are welcome - from dial-up to cable. Because of this we ask those posting pictures to be considerate of others and downsize larger pictures. Please use common sense as to the number of photos you provide within a post. we suggest larger numbers of photos within one post to be posted as a "click in". This is no place for continuous and unrelenting bashing - in a MEAN and INTENTIONAL fashion. It won't be tolerated. We all know that this may mean different things to different people, so let's just use some common sense here. It's one thing to not like someone and say so, it's another to CONTINUALLY bash this same person by using different handles. In addition, ads, banners and posts concerning clothing for sale, etc, will be deleted. There are plenty of consignment forums and other options for those who want to sell their goods or products. Finally, we encourage all participants to respect the flow of the board. We respectfully request that you not stop the flow of discussion with personal attacks directed at other members of the board. If this occurs, we request you take those personal attacks off the board and settle your problems with each other personally through email. We have several posters on this board who have a sense of humor that some may find offensive, especially if you are a first time visitor. Please understand that we do have thought provoking conversations, but there are some posters (BamaMan, Gladys, Miss USA 2007 Contender and the remainder of her family just to name a few) who are posting in a joking manner. All complaints are welcome but we request you do so via email. There is a button below to contact all the moderators per email. Complaints on the board will be unapproved.

If you have any additions, changes or deletions to these lists, please e-mail Stacey here

MISS DIVISION standouts were:

1. Lacey Wilson - great body, great gown, but looks old
2. Aderinsola Okenla - great body and stage projection, nice gown
3. Danielle Muehlenbein - great stage projection, but lacks facial beauty
4. Erica Lynn Harris - fierce in swimsuit and gown and the crowd loves her, but too short
5. Alida D'Angona - this girl is Miss Universe material! her photo on the Miss Mass USA website doesn't do justice.

TEEN standouts were:

1. Brooke Bibeault - she was 1st runner-up last year and she was beaten by a mediocre-looking girl. This year, she is the best. If she doesn't win, the judges are either blind or hate her.

2. Rebecca Ho - fierce Asian girl, great body and projection, but her gown was horrible

3. Jacqueline Messina - over the top - big hair, big gown, but charming and received lots of applause from the crowd

4. Rosemary Mullane - she reminds me of Salma Hayek. Beautiful face, tall, nice gown, but needs to lose weight.

5. Jessica Tocci - beautiful girl, nice swimsuit and gown presentation

The music tracks were some of my favorite, hot, songs
so that was great, both in SS and in EG.

Tami Farrell and Chelsea Gilligan co-hosted the event.
These two girls could not be any different from one
another. They definitely look like they've become
good friends, but.....Tami was an amazing host.
She was upbeat, genuine and you could tell she
had practiced. Chelsea??? I am not trying to
be mean because she's gorgeous but I am wondering
if she is dyslexic, didn't practice or is just not
too bright. I think a little of each actually.
She mispronounced CITY NAMES (from the state she
lives in) so badly that she made Crystle Stewart
look like Diane Sawyer!!! OMG! Campbell was
"camp bell", Kern County was "Kren County",
Palo Alto was "Palo Alta", Pacific Palisades
became "Pacific Paladis", Pleasanton was "Pleasen",
La Mirada became "La Meridian". It was painful.
Tami was encouraging, glib and funny as hell.
Between SS and EG the judges needed more time
so Tami and Chelsea filled. Tami asked Chelsea
what she is doing next with her career and Chelsea
said she got a modeling gig in Milwaukee for Kohl's
that she will be going to right after she crowns the
teen winner. She did not need to say, "I never even
knew where Milwaukee was. Is it in Alaska? I don't
know!" And then Tami said, "It's ok Chelsea. We're
not a scholarship pageant. You just have to stand there
and be beautiful. And you ARE beautiful, Chelsea!"
And the audience laughed and oohed and ahhhd.
It was all good natured you could tell, but I
loved the fact that Tami doesn't take herself
too seriously. No doubt this is a reason she
has been so successful in pageantry. Because
she's REAL.

But the way Chelsea looked at her, like she
was confused and then she smiled and said,
"Thanks Tami!" I about peed myself.

When Chelsea was asking Tami how her year was,
Tami said, "Oh. Was there controversy? I hadn't
noticed." Chelsea was about to ask her more about
Carriegate and Tami said, "You're being completely
inappropriate, Chelsea." The audience was cracking
up.

Tami Farrell... you rock.
Chelsea Gilligan...I'm glad you're pretty.

SWIMSUIT:

Looked good: Sarah Chapman, Nana Meriwether, Sno E. Blac, Nia Sanchez, Greta Pechter, Hoda Hajirnia, Jennifer Barlow, Mariyan Bahadarakhann, Kristen Johnson, Lacey Bollinger, Brittany McGowan, Zazz Oliver, Mamta Singhvi, Bianca Peters, Grace Ruehl-Lewis (had same headshot as Miranda Rigney so don't judge her from headshot cuz she's not pictured) Ariel Wilson, Sarah Henning, Mary Simonsen, Ayushka Gharib, Ashley Alcala, Nicole Chiu, Sonia Talati, Saddaf Yusuf, Bianca Rodriguez, Louise Wu, Mandy Schendel, Cindy Salaues, Amanda Delgado, Krystal Sewell, Rachel Rose, Luna Foxx, Cierra Jackson, Alexandra Ibarra, Nicole Johnson, Niki Rishi, Brandi Milloy, Bonnie Carmalt, Karina Riojas.

Nicole Johnson, Kristen Johnson, Grace Reuhl-Lewis, Alexandra Ibarra, Cindy Salaues, Saddaf Yusuf and Nicole Chiu were the standouts,
(in this exact order!)

GOWNS:

Looked good: Sarah Chapman, Nana Meriwether, Sno E. Blac, Michelle Spaleta, Nia Sanchez, Charlana Brown, Greta Pechter, Jaime Munro, Emperial Garrett, Kristina Johnson, Jan Humphrey, Lacey Bollinger, Jessica Morgan, Brittany McGowan, Mamta Singhvi, Grace Reuhl-Lewis, Mary Simonsen,
Ashley Alcala, Nicole Chiu, Saddaf Yusuf, Bianca Rodriguez, Louise Wu, Cindy Salaues, Sarah Cabbara, Nicole Johnson, Nicky Rishi, Nishi Munshi, Rachel Rose, Brandi Milloy, Bonnie Carmalt, Summer Loftis, Amanda Delgado, Krystal Sewell, Colleen Hunter, Ciarra Jackson, Alexandra Ibarra, Karina Riojas.

Nicole Johnson, Kristen Johnson, Cindy Salaues, Louise Wu, Ciarra Jackson and Ashley Alcala were the standouts,
(in this exact order.)

I know I have been touting Nicole Johnson but I was not disappointed. She and Kristen Johnson have the prettiest faces along with Saddaf Yusuf, Alexandra Ibarra and Ashley Alcala. Some of the headshots did not do these girls justice. Lots of great surprises and very few disappointments. But Nicole Johnson worked the absolute shit out of the runway and the judges in a gorgeous white gown. For me, it's between her and Kristen Johnson for the win. Louise Wu (for all you whiners) looked amazing. Rachel Rose had a gorgeous print gown on and really stood out but she seemed sad, angry or not very confident and did not smile. Perhaps she realized the level of the Cali competitors were way stronger than Florida? She looked great though. And I will be the first to eat crow regarding Sarah Chapman AND Nana Meriwether. Both were polished and fantastic. Sarah looks better than she's ever looked and Nana's pink gown was awesome.

TOP 15: Sarah Chapman, Nana Meriwether, Nia Sanchez, Kristina Johnson, Mutha Singhvi, Grace Reuhl-Lewis, Mary Simonsen, Ashley Alcala, Bianca Rodriguez, Saddaf Yusuf, Louise Wu, Cindy Salaues, Nicole Johnson, Alexandra Ibarra and Brandi Milloy.

STRONG POSSIBILITIES: Sno E. Blac, Michelle Spaleta, Greta Pechter, Britany McGowan, Nicole Chiu, Rachel Rose, Ciarra Jackson, Karina Riojas, Nicki Rishi, Lacey Bollinger, Jessica Morgan, and Nishi Munshi.

I seriously think it's going to be Johnson & Johnson up there holding hands as the last two. I'd probably have Grace Reuhl-Lewis 2nd runner up (but too bad you can't see her picture because another girl's pic is duped under her name). For the last two spots it's going to be a battle among Alcala, Yusuf, Salaues (very strong), Singhvi, Wu and Chapman but if I was put on the spot and had to guess the last two in the top 5 would be Salaues and Alcala.

There are MANY very pretty, very poised girls competing. You can definitely tell who came prepared and who did not. All the girls I've listed were great so I wouldn't be surprised to see many of them get in the top 5 but for me Nicole Johnson could win Miss Universe TOMORROW and actually so could Kristen Johnson.

If you guys have any questions about specific girls let me know. I took exhaustive notes. (Sorry this is SO long!!)

I went myself and there will be a Top 10 in both Miss and Teen.

I have three teens on the radar to win. Lawton, Sooner State and Broken Bow. Those three will definitely be in contention and all three would do well nationally.

Miss...oh miss!!! So many beautiful ladies it's hard to pin down a Top 10 even with so few contestants. But, the obvious standouts were

1.South OKC-natural beauty, great stage presence, tiny!
2.OKC- mature, very statuesque
3.Stillwater-wore different gown (Earth gown),won Mentor award from the teens
4.Greater Tulsa-gown looks amazing on stage, she's really trimmed up from years passed!Came prepared!
5.N. OK- different dress, beautiful
6.Sooner Country- love the red
7.Southern Hills- last year's runner-up, well prepared, but, I think a bit too thin
8.Tulsa County- wore different dress, definite contender
9.Tulsa Hills- Another mature lady, LOVE the gown
10.W. Edmond- different gown too, finalist for sure

Ok- so as already posted below Tami and Chelsea were the hosts and Tami did a fantastic job! Chelsea is just really so pretty. Their gowns were awesome!

Some of the previous picked 15s were SUCH a disappointment. Many girls who have the best headshots were awful onstage or bottom heavy. Some of the girls with bad headshots were STUNNING!!! I found this to be fun because you look at the photo then the girl and go WOWZA!

LOTS of titleholders there (former etc.) Kristen was in the audience, she looked GREAT! Cute white dress, had her sash on before show but removed... odd. LOL

Biggest disappointment for me was that Rachel Rose (my fav) did not smile hardly at all. Everyone in my group thought she looked angry or pissed off. She was trying to be sexy but it didn't work. Nicole Johnson (just 2 before her blew her out of the water!)

In the groups it was easy to narrow down to the best 2 per group... ironically enough- that does not produce 15! LOL! And my husband and pageant fans group none of us had a 15.... some facially stunning with great bodies- the rest just average or below.

What was great is they list the girls heights right in the book with their photos, so you can easily look at how tall she is and how she would fair against the "glamazons" like Nana and Sarah....

My 15 is still PRETTY close with a few changes....

Going in order of appearance:
Sarah C = Bay Area (very conservatice performance, gorgeous)
Nana m = Beverly Hills (she walked much better this year!)
Samantha Stephens = Corona (WOW! Loved her, she is no disappointment! I was the only one with her on my original 15 and I stick to it!)
Jan H = Folsom (rockin body, very pageant, gorgeous gown)
Jessica M = Greater SD (lacey b. and jessica had same gown and Jessica ROCKED it out better than Lacey, I would swap these 2 pretty easily though)
Bianca P = malibu (ADORABLE, my hubby loved her)
Mary S = North County (I could not stop looking at her, stunning! Other pageant friends I was with thought she was "too much" but I loved her)
Ashley A= pacific Palisades (talked with her mom and very nice family! She owned the stage when her turn!)
saddaf Y = Point Loma (wow. all i can say)
Louise W= San Fran (very polished, her fan group was cute but stood up and blocked judges!)
Mandy S = san marino (GREAT transition, not the facially most beautiful but worked the stage)
Nicole J = Sherwood (between her and rachel... nicole owned it)
Bonnie C = Thousand Oaks (the shortest in my 15)
Amanda D = Upland (she was my tough pick, everyone in my group loved her.)
Krystal S = Ventura (gorgeous but a little forgetable)

Bubble:
Michelle Spaleta = Cabrillo Beach
Nia Sanchez = Citrus Valley, really cute BAD gown choice
Lacey B = Greater LA (gown hurt her, she was too short waisted for the style)
Grace Ruehle = Napa Valley
Chelsea H= Santa Monica Her gown choice might have hurt her she was one of my favs going into it!
Rachel R = Silver Lake (so sad I cant put her on my list)
Tamara garfield = Tam valley (she has such a neat look about her!)
Cristina Vigilante = Toluca Lake
Brittany W = Victorville (wish she picked a different gown)
mary M = westlake, I wanted to like her but she looked short compared to the others! A strong bubble!

Honorable mention: Karina Riojas was like penelope cruz in her gown- she was SENSATIONAL! LOVE LOVE LOVED her gown performance, sadly, I cannot remember her swimsuit performance.... but great in gown!
The LONG SHOT mention: Lena Elousy = Agoura Hills... my hubby loved her... she wasn't on my list at all and he keeps going back to "that augora girl"... he admits she is a long shot but I wanted to give her the mention!

REALISITCALLY: There are about 6 girls that can easily walk away with the title depending on judges opinion; there are 6-7 girls with face, body, and pressence... Judges have a TOUGH job tomorrow but I am confident we will have a great titleholder this year!

2007-2010 STATE CONTESTANT NUMBERS

These net cafe computers don't have excel so I've had to edit it on Google Spreadsheets which is less user friendly but hopefully you can make sense of it

Best growth (miss + teen) = California = +104% on last year

The only other states (so far) that have had growth this year:
North Dakota (+24%), Washington (+8%), Wyoming (+5%), Indiana (+4%), West Virginia (+2%)

Top 10 losses:
Arizona (-47%), Michigan (-40%), Idaho (-36%), Tennessee (-34%), Maryland (-33%), Nebraska (-32%), Wisconsin (-29%), Rhode Island (-27%), Utah (-27%), South Carolina (-25%)

MISS
Biggest growth
Cali (+131%)
North Dakota (+69%)
Wyoming (+59%)

Biggest losses
Arizona (-51%)
Nebraska (-38%)
Tennessee (-31%)

TEEN

Biggest growth
California (+67%)
Washington (+27%)
Connecticut (+14%)

Biggest losses
Utah (-57%)
Idaho (-54%)
Arizona (-41%)

... and the scary numbers, comparing 2010 to 2007

Average loss in total contestants since 2007 for the states I have stats for = 32% (only Cali & Hawaii have grown; Missouri, Michigan, Arizona, Tennessee, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Idaho have all seen their numbers reduce by more than half)

Average loss in Miss contestants since 2007 = 24% (some eexamples... MI had 99 Miss contestants in 07, only 41 this year, TN"s dropped from 88 to 42)

Average lost in Teen contestants since 2007 = 39% (IL's lost 70 contestants, NJ is -86)

... I was a stats geek in high school. It sticks ;) Throw me any questions you have...I'll do my best to answer them. The spreadsheet isn't perfect, I know there some probably some errors from where I left it last year but hope its better than nothing!

The night started off great with a fabulous opening number. Great costumes. Then the went right to the top 15 in teen. First called was Ashley Witt. She is a goddess so I wasn't surprised! Next was Kelsey Cunningham, she's a cute girl but wasn't on my radar until now. Then Kristin Kennedy who is a gorgeous girl! THen Courtney Ballenger who is tall and thin who had a great gown at prelims. Then Megan Pinckney. I wasn't surprised by her top 15 placement because she is so stunning. Next was Amber Cohen who is gorgeous. Then Hillary Bradshaw. No surprise there! Then Emilie Sears. I was a little surprised by this. Cute girl, but needs a couple years to mature. Then Lindsay Garrick who was on at prelims so I knew she would be up there. Then Laurie Kimsey who is cute, but not a huge stand out at prelims. THen Morgan Adams who looked great the night before. THen McKenzie Hudson who rocked the stage the night before and was a clear standout. THen Raimey Pike. Pretty girl, but wasn't a stand out to me. THen Katie Patterson who I thought was going to win it! She's gorgeous! Then Margaret Ann Carter who I thought was average at prelims, but her gorgeous face got her in. I was surprised that Chelsea Smith, Melissa Turbeville, Arabia Gilliam and Hannah Smith were not up there.

Then the Miss contestants. There was a tie so they had a top 16. First up was Collard who is gorgeous and very deserving. Then Lissie Smith who also was deserving. Then Jenny Price who I wasn't surprised by, but wasn't one of my top girls. Then Grace Spears who rocked the night before! She could win in the next couple years. Then Sara Mccall who was deserving. Then Brooke Eaves who is stunning. Then Brittany Jasenski, she was cute, but short. Then Vaughn who I think is a little more MAO, but still pretty. Then Callaway who has an awesome body! Then Brittany Price who is tall and gorgeous. Future Miss Universe! Then Hickman who was deserving. Then Bishop who was obvious. Then McLeod who has a great body and deserved to be up there. Then Law who was the biggest stand out the night before. Then Roberson who can work the stage and has a hot body. Last was Capps who's body is rocking, but didn't stand out the night before. I was surprised that Chapman, Childers, Groome, and Olvera were left out.

Then swimsuit. In teen the stand-outs were, Witt(amazing body and stage presense), Bradshaw(same as Witt), Hudson(Rocked it), Patterson(stunning on stage), and Carter(who didn't stand out the night before, but worked it at finals). In miss the stand outs were Spears(The hard work paid off, she was fantastic), McCall(Gorgeous), Eaves(Looked great), B Price(Love the color), Bishop(Best body), McLeod(Looked great), and Law(Flawless).

Then there was a very nice presentation about RPM. Kudos to 30 years!

Then top 10. I was shocked that Patterson didn't make it! Maybe they thought she was too miss. I was also surprised that Spears and McLeod didn't make it. The stand outs in evening gown were Pinckney(Wasn't crazy about her swimsuit, but her gown was flawless! She proved that she deserved it!), Garrick(Could be a Miss USA contender), Ballenger(Perfect gown!), Witt(Stunning!), and Hudson(loved her gown!). I(along with many others) was shocked when Witt did not make the top 5! I was also surprised by no Hudson or Garrick. In Miss the gown stand-outs were B Price(Miss USA anyone?), McCall(Loved the yellow), Bishop(Perfect), Eaves(Best gown of the night), and Law(Flawless). Surprised that there was no McCall or Eaves in top 5.

The top 5 interviews in Teen were all amazing! But I knew that Pinckney won because she just had that spark! In Miss, Price improved a lot! Bishop was kind of boring. Law was perfect. ROberson was cute, but a little teenish. And Vaughn was alright.

Then awards. Carter won swimsuit in teen. I think either BRadshaw or Witt should have won, but Carter was good. In Miss it was Vaughn, who was good, but not a stand out. SHould have gone to Bishop or Law. Photogenic went to WItt and Law, both very deserving. COngeniality went to Strawhorn and Collard(no surprise there). I loved Pinckney's winning reaction. If she fixes her swimsuit, she will be top 5 at Miss Teen USA. Law is fresh and could very well win Miss USA! We will have to see!
