Subject: It's been a long time since I was as disturbed by news reports as Thursday night when watching a couple of hours of CNN about the ongoing court proceedings and background stories about the FLDS church's practices. What a conflict it sets up between our country's system to protect children and constitutional rights of freedom of religion, and I fear that because of technicalities in laws, the children probably will end up back at the ranch and the cycle will continue. Sorry if this doesn't agree with somebody else's opinion - it's just my own. The church's practices absolutely victimize women from cradle to grave; they don't realize it and help perpetuate the practice. At the same time, as a mother I really feel for the women and kids who are separated from each other right now.

[> What I don't understand is why it takes so long to break these cults up. Pologomy is against the law, is it not? I don't understand how anyone can "think" that this is a good lifestyle, & those poor brainwashed women thinking its okay to be married to someone who has 5 other wives just so he can spread his "seed" around is just nauseating. 50 year old dirtbags marrying 13 year olds? How about charging them all with statuatory rape? Better yet, castrate them all LOL! -- Jennifer, Wednesday, April 23, 12:13:54 [1]

[> [> They hide behind religious freedom. As for them not knowing it is a "good lifestyle", this has been going on for generations and most know of no other way. Living that way is "normal' to them. In fact, when people do leave the "churches" they often have a very difficult time in the outside world. Don't get me wrong, I do not believe it is a healthy way to live. -- Shaz, Wednesday, April 23, 18:31:19 [1]
