Date Posted: 27/09/06 22:21 Siobhan! Really! You're after two bites of the cherry. I've just answered this on Dragonswood. But now, I've got another 5 choices - yippee! Aristotle - great thinker. Semiramis - I'm curious about her. Sappho - an ancient woman poet deserves a dinner! Agricola - what was conquering Britain really like? My other grandfather - not to be prejudiced. Ellinas. Date Posted: 28/09/06 0:25 Only 5?!! oh no... erm... OK - do they have to be dead guests? well I'll focus on those who have passed on for now... oh dear, the problem is, once I start thinking then there are too many lol! (Maybe I should follow Ellinas and Pilgrim and choose another 5 on DW hee hee hee...) Mary Seacole - feisty Jamaican healer, entrepreneur and heroine of the Crimean War - and my reason for inviting her.... isn't it obvious?! :) Mohandas / Mahatma Gandhi - ditto 'reason' above lol. Bela Bartok - Hungarian composer / musician with a passion for ethnomusicology - without his music I may never have heard/played the amazing folk tunes and rhythms which he collected and was inspired by. (Come to think of it, there are quite a few musicians and composers I'd like to invite...oh but that's for another dinner party perhaps...) hmmm... who else shall I choose this time around... ok, for their passion for their countries and the loyalty, respect and love they gained from their fellow countrymen : Owain Glyndwr - 'rebel leader' - the Red Dragon of Wales and a true Prince of Wales who united the people of Wales William Wallace - Guardian of Scotland - such determination and bravery. oh no... now I've run out... but I want to invite Che Guevara too! oooh and Leslie Hurry, an amazing artist/painter/theatre designer... oh and Arthur C. Clarke and Isaac Asmiov.... Jesus too, it would be interesting to hear what he REALLY believed and said.... sigh... can we have another dinner party Shi?! Excellent topic by the way! :) I would also just like to meet various indigenous peoples from all over the world who have so much wisdom of their natural surroundings and such experiences to share. Date Posted: 28/09/06 1:48 I seem to have managed to delete that last paragraph I had... which was... if I could have a bigger dinner party (hey it's MY party! lol) I'd want my Nan, Grandad, (great) Aunties and (great) Uncles who all died when I was quite young :) [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 28/09/06 8:31 What a wonderful post. The people that spring immediately to mind without really thinking are: Queen Elizabeth I - just love that era and I think she was one of the great monarchs. Isembard Kingdom Brunel - unbelievably clever bloke. Joan of Arc - what a gal! Jesus - get his side of if/what really happened Winston Churchill - apparently, an excellent dinner guest with lots of whit. BUA - Lil [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
