] Date Posted: 28/09/06 14:26 what would it be? alone? with other half? with many friends not necessarily all close ones? or a special few people? mine....wake slowly, long slow cuppa in bed, meet a friend for a coffee and spend hours chatting. home for a meal prefereably making one for friend as they sit in kitchen chatting and watch me prepare a feast.....long bath and lights out before 11pm. sometimes it seems i don't have many friends just a few close ones but prefer it like that. Date Posted: 28/09/06 16:25 A beautiful autumn day - soft sunshine, its beams threaded through with mist. Dew sparkles on the grass and there is the smell of woodsmoke in the cool clear air. I saddle my pony and we make our way along forest tracks overlaid with leaves of all colours, the fallen branches a miriad of greens from the mosses and lichens. In a clearing there is a small herd of deer, their coats burnished in a pool of sunlight. They move off and I urge my horse into a canter, and I feel at one with him, a graceful fluid movement, with that wonderful excitement of speed as he covers the ground effortlessly. So that's my morning sorted out .... Then in the afternoon I go down to a secluded bay by the sea, white sand and blue-green water. There is a soft, warm breeze and the sun sparkles on the waves which break gently on the shoreline. I go for a swim, the water so clear, I can see corals and fish below me. And it is then that the dolphins arrive, nudging me gently, wanting to play. There seems to be a connection between us - it is as though they can read my thoughts and I theirs. And I laugh as they frolic around me, with the sheer joy of being alive. Aah - sounds great doesn't it? LOL. Have had experience of the morning bit, but sadly not the afternoon excursion! In reality a good one is walking with my partner out in nature on a lovely day, finding somewhere to sit for lunch with a beautiful view and then making our way home as dusk is falling and sitting by a log fire with a glass of wine and a good meal:) [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 29/09/06 8:51 Rowan, your afternoon is my idea of perfection. One of the things on my list "to do before I die" is to swim with dolphins, but I just love sitting in a beatiful cove listening to the waves bashing against the rocks - could do it all day long. I also like rockpooling (rarely catch anything but prefer to look anyway as you see more) and shell hunting. My fav place for this is Dorset. But like you also Rowan, my partner and I often go for walks with Bill. We get away as many weekends as we can (this weekend we went to Snowdon camping with some friends and even climed to the sumit). We always take a packed lunch and find somewhere peaceful to sit and eat. Guess we both already have the perfect life eh?! BUA - Lil [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 29/09/06 12:44 Yeh, Lil, I guess its easy to wish for more when you are really holding it in your hand all along:) I love rock-pooling too - lovely ones on Lindisfarne and last time we stayed in Craster, Northumberland, came back with tons of gorgeous shells. I remember taking some school kids to the shell beach near Woolacombe in North Devon - amazing. Haven't been to Dorset but might go next summer. Love the cornish beaches too, when its not too busy. Well done climbing Snowdon. Must get back to that - at least we are only 45 mins from the Lakes so no excuses, hee hee! [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 29/09/06 23:14 "sometimes it seems i don't have many friends just a few close ones but prefer it like that." I have different circles of friends through work and they are lovely people yet I do find it way more relaxing to spend time with other closer friends, those with whom I connect in a deeper way, those with whom I do not have to 'behave' perhaps.....for whatever reason. Those with whom I can connect in silence, in the spaces between...hear the words not spoken. ahhhhhhhhh. I connect more to the enduring timeless soulful campfire connection than to bonding over a pint each week :) So for this reason, although I know quite a lot of people, like you, my true tribe is on the small side... tee heee.
