we all seem to appreciate earth and nature but what do we consider ourselves if we are to use a label for convenience. and what does it mean.

i am hindu, from a hindu family (parents, siblings), some aspects i don't like...such as how it frowned upon i am dating a guy from the west. they are just scared. but hinduism is my root tradition.

i am however inspired by teachings in tibetan buddhism but do not practice the actual path as i find it too hard and disciplined tho am studying some of the sutras (as i bore zenwind wind with this). i also find native american philosophies and paganism i have read inspiring.

i have not discovered my religion on my own, hindism was paased down to me, i am waiting to see what i experience myself without all the trappings but it is not easy.

Hello sweetsong - I'm going to work out my wording and get back to you on this one... I follow my own path and it doesn't fit into any of the other pre-labelled paths I have come across... although it fits happily under the umbrella term of Paganism :)

Sometimes it is known to be called the yellow brick road.

Hellenic paganism - own brand - no association with any other of the same name.

Sorry, can't think of a shorter way to say it.

I fall under the "Paganism" umbrella myself. I am a witch, however I follow the Native American shaman tradition as well. I guess you could call me a Shamanistic Witch.....lol

thanks this is interesting. most of the hindus i know would not identify as pagan so i guess where i am getting confused is i am trying to work out what ALL pagans will have in common to bring them under the umbrella in the 1st place (irrespecitve of path). to see if i could fit.

zenwind do you consider yourself a pagan?

and all what does path mean...a way to live your life or a practice of a belife system?

This is a hard one for me because my path does not fit into any pre-described system. I call myself a Christian because my diety is the triune god of Christianity. Father, Son and Holy Spirit(whom I view as the heavenly mother). However I also practice whitchcraft which is strictly taboo in christianity. I accept all gods and goddesses (including mine.) as a manifestation of the divine given to mankind so we as individuals can better unerstand ourselves and our place in the universe. The best lable I can give it offends so many people I usually just don't give it a name but I guess I would be called a Christian Witch.

That is a very good question Sweetsong. Witchcraft is seen by most Christians as the use of the supernatural to acheive results or information, according to your own will and not the will of God. Usually these results are obtained through the use of non Christian ritual. It is taboo because in the Bible it is forbidden. However the original word in the Bible that is translated as "witch" can also be translated as Poisoner. So whether the Bible was refering to the practice of magic or the practice of murder is still unclear. I think it was talking about poisoning. Hope that answered your question. I gave the definition according to most Christians. Anybody else have a notion of how to define witchcraft?

What I really call it is wordy but I do tend to waffle:

a certain experience of intimacy with nature....flowing into the membranes of my gaze. I don't believe my mind is located in my head...more like entire being permeating outwards to the entire universe and back again. sharing sky and earth with all beings and yet there is no separation I feel, there is a natural flow towards mutual interdependence that I am moved to honour, and be so grateful for, one breath after another.....in the now-moment-beyond-space-time-thing.

Everything else for me goes from there. Fabric of my being. I'd be doing the same anyway even if I had no language to describe it.

I guess my path could be loosely described as paganism, i dont follow any particular tradition at all, i rarely use magic only as the very last resort to a situation or in terms of healing, so i could be described as a witch although it is not something that dominates my path. I am probably the least ceremonial person i know, so i could not be described as wiccan..........oh, no im rambling, it is quite difficult to describe what path i am on really because it cannot be labelled very easily, although it would definately 'fit under the umbrella' of paganism.
That is the good thing about paganism, everybody gets to follow the path in the way that they choose, my path is very personal to me, and i have aspects of it in common with others, but not every bit of it will be the same....rambling again, i hope that made some kind of sense! I'll stop now before i start to confuse myself as well as everyone else!!!!
