] Date Posted: 22:39:26 04/27/11 Wed I know that there is alot of terrible weather going on around the country right now. We have had over ten inches of rain here in Harrison over a four day period. It's the worst I've seen since we were first graders during the flood of 1961. If it wasn't for the higher levee, it might have been as bad as '61 here. You can probably see pictures of the flood waters on the Harrison Daily Times website. They were even doing water rescues in the street in front of Fed Ex. The city pool ran over and flooded much of Pine Street and Stephenson and Central intersection. Lightning knocked out my phone, cable, and internet. It just seemed to never let up. Date Posted: 19:55:44 05/08/11 Sun Speaking of floods, someone posted a 13 minute video on YouTube that was recorded in May of 1961. The video surveyed the damage to downtown Harrison in the aftermath of the 1961 flood. It was a reminder of many things, including Hudson's on the square and people in lines at the hospital waiting for their shot. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 15:27:08 05/09/11 Mon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5z9bq3LLxVA&feature=player_embedded#t=0s This is the video URL that I copied and pasted. I'm not sure it will work. If not, it's sure worth finding it. It's the best video of the '61 flood that I've ever seen. Better that the video that I have that my parents took. Thanks Kevin for the heads up.
