Miss Algeria 2000 (version Nedjma) and 1st RU of Miss Algeria 2004 were featured recently as part of a French documentary investigating the lifestyle of young Algerians. "We live life to the fullest. In Algeria everyone can have fun. Those who think Algerians are close-minded and backward only reject the truth. Our lifestyle here is no different from that of Parisians and New Yorkers." says Rayene Zerrouki (right), who has become a professional model since winning the title of Miss Algeria 2000, the same applies for Rym Meouaki (left) who was 3rd RU of Miss Mediterranean 2004. Best Model of Algeria 2008  Algerian model Amanda Belghoul represented Algeria recently in Best Model of the World 2008 contest that took place in Istanbul. Amanda was 1st RU of Miss Algeria 2006. Miss Kabylie 2008 On January 19th took place the regional contest of Miss Kabylie 2008. The winner was Sarah Boubrit , a 19 y/o high school student. First runner-up was Chadia Icherouidene (left), a college student of psychology, while second runner-up was Dalila Djabali (right) , still a high school student. Amongst the prizes of the winner is a crown worth 2 million DA and a trip to France. A brief interview with the winner below shortly after being crowned:  You have just been crowned Miss Kabylie 2008, how are you feeling? - I am the happiest woman on earth! I cannot express my joy in words. Were you expecting to win? - Not really. I especially competed to have fun and I did. I will keep so many good memories from this experience. In your opinion, what should a girl have to become a Miss? - She must have personality and character, and come from a good family. She must be sharp, disciplined, and know how to make a good impression. You are representing the region's beauty..how do you feel? - I am proud and happy. What are your projects? - I will compete in more national and why not international contests. New doors have been opened to me. Did you have problems joining the contest? - On the contrary everyone encouraged me to join especially my family. Are you athletic? - I play handball and karate. I am also my state's chess champion. What is your profession? - I'm a senior high school student. We wish you good luck!
