Jackie,
I'm out and about but two quick points to your LEO's response. First, he says:
"What I've seen of most gunnies at gun shows and what I know personally is that they are fat, out of shape, keyboard commandos, lazy for the most part and cannot get young people interested.
Scary...not."
We must be talking about different "gunnies." He would be mistaken to think that the term "gunnie" doesn't cut across both sexes, all ages, creeds, colors, religions and yes, physical and mental fitness. There is a whole new generation of "gunnies" of the armed citizenry getting trained right now in Iraq and Afghanistan. They cannot by any stretch of the imagination be thought to be lazy or unfit.
Second, he should remember that I wrote this to a state LEO. My point about giving local and state LEO folks "heads up" is to (a.) brief them on a situation they should know about, and (b.) let them know that when the ATF or FBI SAC calls them up to their dirty work assisting with a bogus raid that they should consider not going along. My whole point is to AVOID conflict. Ask the Sheriff at Waco in '93 if he wishes he'd done something different than be these butchers' willing handmaiden. And if he had, would it have been done differently? I know that things were different here in Alabama when we had a Governor who was willing to interpose the state police between the militia and the Feds. Is alerting the authorities to a potential problem "threatening" them? I don't think so.
