Dear Legislators:
This is to relay further information regarding the Reyes/Quiroz/Hernandez illegal alien situation being talked up and sympathized with by the Seattle Times.
Joe Kennard, the Edmonds real estate investor, holds Reyes up as the epitome of the illegal alien that he feels we are duty-bound to help.
While she is the epitome of an illegal alien, I disagree that the United States owes her or her children anything.
Despite the fact that Ms Reyes is still married to the father of her oldest three children—Christian Quiroz (24, illegal alien), Carlos Quiroz, (illegal alien) and Julie Quiroz, (13, anchor baby)—at the time of her deportation, she was living with the father of her illegitimate child, Sharise Hernandez, (6, anchor baby). She obviously didn’t feel it necessary to divorce her first husband or marry the live-in, even though bearing his child.
Living in her apartment in Burien, at the time ICE picked her up, was Reyes, her two daughters, her son, Carlos, her live-in boyfriend, Arturo Hernandez (father of Sharise Hernandez), and his brother, Luis Hernandez.
In an e-mail to me, Joe Kennard claims that Ms Reyes did a good job raising her sons; that they graduated high school and were never in trouble.
That isn’t true. Both boys have rap sheets, Christian has a felony conviction in which he was required to make restitution to the victim, as well as being convicted for being in possession of a stolen vehicle; Carlos’ life of crime started while he was still a juvenile. The concept that Ana Reyes is somehow a “good mother wanting what is best for her children” doesn’t fly.
Both Arturo Hernandez and Luis Hernandez also have rap sheets.
Kennard has moved Ana Reyes (apparently her live-in boyfriend, too) to Juarez which lays along the Mexican/American border just opposite El Paso, Texas. Ana Reyes, her live-in, his brother, and her two sons have made it very apparent that they intend to try to re-enter the United States. With Kennard’s assistance, they are now within walking distance of the U.S. border. With their attitude, Kennard’s claim that he isn’t promoting “illegal re-entry” doesn’t fly either. They have made their intentions very clear. I rather doubt he is so naïve as to truly believe that they won’t try again. He is wittingly aiding and abetting their intentions.
If they cross that border illegally, I sincerely hope that Kennard is somehow held responsible, not only for their crossing but also for the costs that will be incurred. I also hope that the costs of those two girls are laid squarely at Mr Kennard’s feet. He does not have the right to foist the cost of those two girls onto the American taxpayers.
It is very apparent, in all of this, that Washington’s laws regarding illegal aliens are far too lax, far too easy to get around. When Ana Reyes registered to vote, she committed a class C felony. And if procedure was followed in her registering, she signed a document in which she acknowledged she was committing a class C felony.
The American people are fed up; not only with the cost these illegal aliens pose to the American people, actual as well as lives lost due to crime, but also the degradation of our society by the presence of these people. We have enough of these kind who are lawful Americans; we don’t need more who aren’t.
