Subject: When I was little I wanted to be like my mom. She has been a homemaker all her life, except for one year when my big sister was little. And then only because of money issues. When I was a teenager I wanted to become either a police officer or helicopter pilot. Now I'm a stay-at-home mom of 3, jewelry designer - if you want to call it that ( I was the first person - as far as I know - that makes hand stamped jewelry in Germany) - and sometimes translate for a sewing pattern company and a machine embroidery design company. No big advantures, but not a boring life either ;O)

[> At 62, I've realised that life takes you to places you never thought of, whether you like it or not. I stopped planning many years ago, and now just try to be as decent a person as I can. I can't change the past, and I don't waste my life waiting for what the future will bring. As for marriage, I've been married to one man for 33 yrs, and we've been together since we met 41 yrs ago (Dec. 68.) We've had some serious fights (never physical), but whenever we've felt the fight was a threat to our marriage, one or both of us has pulled back. I hate fighting, but then, who doesn't. It takes TWO people to fight, but only ONE to stop it. Too many people destroy their marriages. their lives, and their children's lives, because they can't acknowledge this. They dig in their heels because "they" are always right and the other one is always wrong. The words, "I was wrong, and I am so sorry I hurt you," go a long way to healing wounds. I know. Been there, done that quite a few times. Nobody said life would be easy, but it's better than the alternative. I didn't get what I wanted, (children, acting, art, teaching/writing career etc.) but all in all, I'm pretty lucky.
