Subject: Laurence, this is hilarious! People dare, yes?! My husband is a great lover of local antique markets and still dreams he will find an original Renoir or Monet hidden in someone's old mirror, dresser, commode, etc. Maybe he needs to buy 'shabby chic' vegetable crates-- lol!

[> [> Laurence, I don't know what kind of tv shows you have over there, but we have all kinds of shows dealing with the value of used stuff of various vintages... Inside... -- The Chief, 14:58:43 06/11/12 Mon [1]

"Antiques Roadshow" started it with people bringing their valuables to a large hall where various experts would analyze the items for the cameras, often surprising people with what they were worth.

Now we have "American Pickers" (two guys travel around and "pick" collectibles by haggling over price with the owners in order to resell the items at a profit); "Storage Wars" (people bid on the entire contents of forfeited storage units, not knowing what they're getting, and hoping to hit the jackpot); "Pawn Stars" (about the items that come into a pawn shop on the Las Vegas Strip); Just to name a few!

But apparently none of these shows has analyzed the value of French market crates, or people wouldn't spend so much! LOL
