Subject: My view of the Ben Roethlisberger controversy...

I talked with my cousin about him this morning. Although he is 28, I think he is very immature and should learn that he should not get into these kinds of situations. Did he do it, I don't know. What I do think is that there are people out there who will try to take advantage of young guys with money. Like all celebraties, he should know better. If he is guilty, then he needs to pay for his indescretion and his crime. If he is not guilty, maybe he will learn from this and stay out of the news! He does a lot of good things in our area.

Each summer he runs a football camp for kids at our school district's football field and he donates K-9 dogs to area police departments and police departments in the cities where the Steelers are playing. Don't get me wrong, I am not condoning his actions, but I think we have to hold judgement until all of the details are known. I hope this makes sense and doesn't sound like I am rambling. It's been a long weekend.

I'm late responding to you MB, as I had to look up Ben Roethlisberger to see who he is and what he has been accused of doing. First off, there are so many athletes in team sports particularly, who get into trouble over sexual activities. I'm wondering if they get out of school too early, and remain infantalized. Perhaps when they are first drafted as young guys, they should get thorough training in behaviour, and have a slew of lawyers talking to them, and warning them of what is out there.
