  • Thanks for the wonderful description, Cece. As someone who lives in the Seattle area, I love seeing Vancouver in the news everyday. I am looking forward to watching the Olympics this time in large part because of the location. I am going to try and watch some Canadian television coverage, as well as American. As far as athletes go, I am particularly interested in watching Apolo Anton Ohno, who is from Seattle, and has a chance of becoming the athlete with the most medals in the Winter Olympics ever.     • Hey SB! You should come up! Mind you, you see more on tv of course. Btw, right now, the protesters have halted the torch relay, which was expected. There are contingency plans, but I hope that none of the torch carriers will be disappointed. It means so much to everyone. • Oh my goodness, a terrible tragedy already. A Georgian luge contestant has died during a practice run. I saw it on tv. He was going around 148 k.p.h. and flipped out into a steel pole. He was only 21. I know it's a dangerous sport, and always a risk. I believe he died instantly, doing the thing he loved to do.     • They've had the press interviews with the head of the IOC, and other heads, and they could barely speak. However, the games will go on, of course, though I've no idea if that particular luge sport will continue. The mood in the city is still very high (they probably don't know about the accident.) Although there was a relatively small protest earlier on, it wasn't too effective. But a huge protest is planned for later, and I'm hoping violence doesn't break out. • Don't forget to tune into the opening ceremonies! We were going to go downtown to be in the crowd, but I think not. It'll take us hours to get back home. Besides, I don't want to see the protesters up close and personal. There are about 1000, with all different agendas. They come complete with balaclavas...eek. They've already upset the Canadian veterans...real heroes. But the ceremonies are inside, where the protesters can't enter.   • The noise of the fireworks has just died down. I live up the mountain, but could still here them like thunder. I thought the ceremonies were very tounching, particularly when they had a minute of silence for the Georgian athlete.. You could hear a pin drop, and everyone was so still.       • She is Nikki Yanofsky, a 16 yr old jazz singer from Montreal. She recorded an Olympics song that we've been seeing on tv in the past few weeks. It hit No.1 in Itunes. Here is the Video.
