I read fanfic for a chance to linger in the world of JAG now that the show is gone. There are just a few fanfic author's I love enough that I would be willing to buy a book from just to see what else they could write. But if all they did was rewrite their old stories without Harm and Mac then I don't think I'd be interested. It would be like reading a pale imitation of the real thing. Either the characters would just be copies of Harm and Mac with different names or unfamiliar characters plugged into a story I already know and love. I don't see the point. If I was a writer I guess I could see not wanting to come up with something completely new, but as a reader something new is all that would interest me. I'm sure other's feel differently.
