Subject: Story Preferences - An Informal Survey

Re-imaginings of popular (or at least well known) television shows seem to be the rage these days: the new Battlestar Galactica is enjoying critical acclaim, a new Bionic Woman is in the works, and Lost's creator is working on the next incarnation of Captain Kirk and Mister Spock. Within the larger context of their characters, these products could well be considered "alternate universe" tales. JAG doesn't have many examples of truly AU stories and the ones that I've come across generally take the route of either being a dream or of spring-boarding from a particular established episode. Are there certain parameters within which you'd accept an AU story, or is anything that doesn't include Harm in dress whites and Mac hoisting a rifle in heels automatically not-JAG?
