Subject: I was going to do an essay on this, but with two Stargate deadlines looming and Legacies coding to get done, there just hasn't been time.

There are people who say you should never publish a story immediately after writing it. They'll tell you that you should step away from it for at least a day, and preferably several days, before taking a final look at it. Then, and only then, is it ready for posting. This is because when you've been working with a story for a while, you get too close to it and end up missing things. When you step away for a while, you come back to it with fresh eyes and might see things you need to change before you publish.

There are also those out there who say that when a story is finished, it's finished. Poking at it again in a few days or a week isn't really going to make any difference, so you might as well publish.

Anybody have any thoughts on this?
