Subject: The Donny and his writers "trashed" every important female character at some point. Inside due to overlength
In reply to: JJ (Ronda)--I'm not saying Mac is stupid, rather that the writers were stupid in this case. 's message, "That could work too. Mac forgetting to get a divorce is worse than Jordan forgetting that cough syrup had alcohol in it. I guess TPTB just liked for the female characters to do stupid things sometimes." on 23:35:08 03/04/08 Tue

Kate Pike was portrayed as a woman who slept around (I wonder why Harm was never portrayed as having exhibited poor judgment regarding his personal relationships - there was always a double standard there); Annie as close to a nut case; Jordan as a woman who just dumped a man she supposedly loved when he made a career move she didn't like; Renee as a blond bimbo; Dr. Walden as a woman who dumped a wonderful man who loved her b/c he dared to criticize her son's behavior; Meredith as unfaithful in nearly a "public" way; Harriet as a woman unwilling to move from her lovely home (for a reason that made little sense) even though she certainly knew Bud was a terminal LT if he stayed at JAG HQ; Coates for her misjudgment regarding Pia etc etc. Then there's Mac - her failure as a lawyer to get a divorce was totally unnecessary; the brief fling with a senior officer the same; the nonsense with Bugme's ring on her right hand; the affair with Webb ... there were too many examples for it to have been anything but deliberate -- what was done went beyond portraying characters as having "human" issues or problems to make them more interesting.
