Subject: I don't see things like Mac's alcoholism and Coates' past as character assassination. Who would those characters be without that history? I definitely agree about some of the midstream changes, though, like Carolyn Imes and Meredith. The more glaring thing to me is that the men weren't really written with similar flaws and failings. I think the only male character treated that way was Harm Sr., with the revelation of his fling with Jenny Lake.
In reply to: chris k 's message, "there was always character assasination on the women - Harriet had that miscarriage when she was young we never knew about - Mac of course was an alchoholic, Don't forget what they did to Imes. Of course you mentioned turning meredith into a whore - and Coates started out as a theif - so no - there wasn't a female in the show who survived unscathed by Donny's view of women." on 09:02:27 03/07/08 Fri
