Subject: I agree with a lot of what's been said. Meg had fewer issues than Mac, and part of that was the way the character was drawn, and another part was just due to the factor of time. If Meg had stayed on the show, I wouldn't have been surprised to learn she had a more complicated past than we were shown in the first season. Something to consider is that Harm's character was sort of re-imagined between the first and second seasons, and Meg's might have been, also.

I could see Meg taking up the wrong sides of cases because of naivete, and that becoming a thing with her. It's possible that we would have seen Harm and Meg going head-to-head more, and that would have stirred up a different dynamic for them. It's also possible that Meg could have faded into the rest of the supporting cast, becoming just another face in the Bud-Harriet-Singer-Sturgis crowd, and leaving Harm headlining the series alone.

Personally I don't see Harm and Meg meeting each others' needs in the way that I can see with Harm and Mac -- both of them wanted the fulfillment of a family life and seemed convinced for different reasons that they could never have it. For me it was less about the actors' chemistry and more about Harm and Meg the characters not really clicking in the same way.
