Subject: I agree about 3rd person present tense. Sometimes it tends to sound like a play by play narrative. Almost like a sports announcer. LOL But present tense can work very well when it's first person.
In reply to: Colie 's message, "I think present tense can work well when the story is written in 1st persn (*I* need to kiss Harm). I agree that when it's 3rd person and present tense, the stories often feel somewhat bumpy. But occassionally, it can be done and turn out great. Unfortunately, no examples come to my mind just now, but I know I've read stories where I thought it worked rather well. And despite believing that this style generally sounds a little awkward, I've even written one myself - accidentally! Did not notice that I had consistently used present tense (in a 3rd ps pov story) until I was finished, LOL, but it seemed to work for that particular story so I didn't change it." on 05:19:20 08/27/07 Mon
