Subject: The only reason I might slightly prefer closed canon is that it closed with them together ready to make a life with each other. The shows ending was a true beginning for Harm and Mac. It was something I waited a long time to see. Otherwise, I don't care if canon is open, closed or on it's ear. Just give me good stories. Inside...

I'm interested in all of them. I find I don't have a problem writing either way. I can get inspired or challenged to write something set during the series run, or after. I find that I like other authors stories set before the end of the series better than a lot set after, as I don't care for the stories where they have kids and are all set on family. Sometimes it's okay if the story isn't all domestic bliss, but I don't usually agree with the way other authors set up the family. The ones I've read have Mac with the Rabb name, staying at home and Harm working, which makes no sense to me as he had his 20 years in already and had Mattie to take care of.

  • I found it much easier to write while the show was still on the air. While possibilities still whirled out there in the ether..lol. I do think the ambiguousness of JAGs ending made it easy for some authors--especially ones that were strongly invested in which way the coin landed to keep going. I was all about the romance and the details were just that to me...so now that the deal has been sealed-I don't have much to add. I can get inspired by an occasional challenge, but basically this is a long way of saying open works best for me. (NT) -- manette, 16:21:41 05/01/07 Tue
