Theresa, LOL! I agree that fanfic isn't a moral authority, it's mostly fantasy. I hope no one is confused about that. Unless it's deftly done, having the characters deliver safe sex lectures when things are getting hot and heavy can take me out of the moment, and probably isn't the most effective or authoritative way of spreading that information.

But, JAG fanfic often portrays monogamous, loving relationships as things to strive for, and I think that is a good influence.

Janlaw, your point is well taken. Personally I don't come from a background with much insight into military culture, so many stories and discussions here have given me food for thought. It doesn't matter that they were fanfic stories, they affected me all the same.

And 'not gonna say...' Hee! We won't tell on you... ;)
