Subject: The fandom has brought me friends all over the world; through the fandom I still feel connected to my prior JAGC career - it was nearly 1/2 my life; the fandom got me started writing fiction again after many years of only writing legal briefs, motions, reports etc. (I wrote ff as a kid - it wasn't called ff then - and involved books more than TV, but I let it go as I finished school). Most of all, when RL is particularly difficult or stressful, I feel like the fandom is there for me - mainly on this site and the various HB portals.

  • First by beta reading for other authors, I've developed good solid friendships that are still going strong long after we've stopped writing fics. Writing fics was my ulcer therapy. If I'm writing a story, thinking only of that world, my world doesn't keep knawing at me- LOL.
