Subject: Harm would have continued to be on active duty drawing full pay and allowances and building years towards retirement eligibilty while attending law school. His "payback" time starts when he completes law school. Same system applies in flight school. Active duty with full pay and allowances while going through pilot training, then the clock starts running when you graduate. Any other formal training after UPT (F-14 RTU, Top Gun) also has a time committment, but they run concurrently, not consecutively.

  • There is an areomedical dual designate. I forget the number. They are fully qualified aviators AND flight surgeons. I've just been reading a white paper about how the Navy wants to increase the number of these "bi-wings". (NT) -- Mariposa, 00:20:08 05/22/09 Fri

  • You're right about that relatively new (2001) program. But, they remain in the Medical Corps (if a dr) or in the Medical Service Corps (if a psychologist for example) but spend their career with the Aviation community. Excerpt from the applicable regulation inside. -- janlaw, 23:20:40 05/27/09 Wed
