Subject: I usually draft out a paragraph or two of the general idea of a story -- beginning, middle, end, and often I put in few specifics of what I'd like to happen in the story somewhere through it...inside
In reply to: usmgrad 's message, "When writing a "long" story (more than one chapter) do you use an outline? Or do you just "wing" it? Do you know where you're going when you start or do you let the story "take" you where it wants to go? Also do you finish a story before you begin to post or do you work and post as you go along?" on 07:32:37 12/28/09 Mon

ie -- I want Harm to see Mac in a bikini and drop his teeth or I want Alicia Montes to end up somehow being too pushy and creepy for Harm or I want Mac to look really amazing, etc. etc. If I've thought of a few lines while I'm doing something else -- I jot them down before I forget. Then when I sit down to actually write, I've already gotten my lines written. I also like to title chapters, but wait until I've written the chapter to 'find' a suitable title. Sometimes I do write the whole story before I post and other times, I write a chapter at a time, depending on my work schedule. Writing a chapter at a time is harrowing for me. I feel pressured and I don't do well under pressure. Having said that, there have been times I've written a whole story and have changed it while I'm typing! Something may have come into my mind that 'felt' better or flowed better.
I tend to write in conversational tone. I keep in mind that this is amateur fanfic and I can't write like I usually write for my professional purposes or I wouldn't enjoy it as much. I enjoy writing my professional work, but I have to be totally correct for that. I certainly write with my audience in mind. I'm a people pleaser -- I love making people happy and have fun. So, even though my stories get a bit sappy, predictable, and even some people may think they suck, I so hope other people enjoy them.
