I like the warm, fuzzy stories; however, there's way too much "fluff" on the boards--makes my teeth hurt!!

In real life, there are sometimes no really happy endings--and I would like to think both of these characters (in fact, all of the "crew") became real to us "fans". Or, sometimes, there's a story that, at the end, is "happy"--depending on how happiness is defined--that is consistent with what we saw on screen--but it's not what we expect. Indeed, I believe, especially during Seasons 9 and 10, the pros were masters at throwing us for loops. Which is what made those two seasons especially, I think, really agony for shippers!!

Working on a couple of stories with "angst" in them at the moment--but RL keeps calling (in addition to a new "hobby" related to fan fiction)--and flu, etc. Ya-da-da-da!!

And, in fact, the further away from "Fair Winds" I get time-wise, the less satisfactory that ending gets!! As a television viewer, it was immensely satisfying--as a fan of love stories, nyet!!! So it's safe to say, I'm conflicted and "the jury's still out" on how I really feel about "Fair Winds".

And, to reinforce Janlaw's comments about the relationship between Mac and Tom Boone: I was a very reluctant prosecution witness in a criminal case once--and it's taken me years to come to the realization the prosecutor was:
1. just doing his job (albeit, badly--it was universally conceded this particular man's people skills were slim to none!!), and
2. the prosecutor, in this case, had just cause to bring the case he did.

Having said all that, though--I'm still not sure I can serve on a jury. As a result of the treatment I received at the hands of the prosecutor--as one of their witnesses--I still have a knee-jerk reaction to prosecutors. I can well understand Tom Boone's attitude, one hundred per cent!!!

  • May I change the word from "angst" to "conflict"? (inside.) -- Cece, 07:23:00 02/24/07 Sat

  • Thanks for the greek lesson, Cece! LOL I agree that my interest remains stories about the conflict in the H/M romance prior to FWAFS. That was my initial draw to fanfic, and it remains so. (NT) -- JAG Junkie (Ronda), 10:20:33 02/24/07 Sat
