        I don't think we can assume a character didn't do something that would have been logically consistent with their characters, just because we didn't see it happen. The writers have only so much time, so they focus on the main point. We never saw anyone at JAG worrying about Harm, but it doesn't make any sense to think that they didn't.         I think out of character is not only dialog, but actions as well. For example if Harm came home and beat up Mattie. Now come on, we know Harm wouldn't do such a thing, so it's out of character.         Well that is extreme, though I imagine somewhere there's a sadist fanfic writer out there. But in general, people are capable of a lot of behaviours. If Harm were to do something so bizarre, there would have to be a reason (like he was high on crystal meth that someone had slipped him.) What I'm saying is, if language is consistant, and the story is well told, we would be convinced. We may hate the story, but that is a different matter. (NT) -- Cece, 22:43:26 03/03/07 Sat
- There are a few alternate pairings that have succeeded under limited circumstances - generally, H or M is definitely "gone" - dead or married to someone else. I was specific as to Harm/Jen - she was in her early 20's and he saw her as a young sister; /Singer - he disliked and distrusted her; was sure she had set Mac up with t he mishap report ; /Harriet - also akin to a younger sister.   - I agree. For him to have gotten involved with any of those women would have been OOC, especially Jen, because their were fraternization issues since she was enlisted. Now, as much as it pains me to say it, a Harm/Catherine Gale fic wouldn't be OOC, because we actually *did* see him try to start something with her. I wouldn't read it, however.
