Okay, so I've been fighting this for a long time, but I've finally had a long chat with Tracy(not Jean), and we've decided that it's time to make a change.

Maintaining the archive has always been a lot of work, but in the beginning, we had the time and the enthusiasm to pull it off. We also had a lot of help. But the newness has worn off, for all of us, and it isn't fair to pretend otherwise, either to ourselves, or to you.

Our lives have also taken other turns, some good, some more challenging, and there are demands on our time that we didn't have a year ago. More and more, our archive duties have become burdensome rather than fun. The work is hard, and time-consuming, and not always all that rewarding.

So after a great deal of discussion, Tracy(not Jean), and I have decided that we're going to switch the archive from "update every Wednesday" to "update when we can". If we *do* post new stories, it'll always happen on a Wednesday, but don't look for them every week.

We have a lot of stories still in the queue, and we're going to do our best to get those finished. It wouldn't be fair to anybody to just drop the project, so if you're an author with work in the queue, please don't think we're blowing you off.

We're not taking down the archive, and we're not giving up. We just can't keep up this pace any longer.

Pixie, you and Tracy(not Jean) have to set your priorities! Two questions: (1)Would more volunteers help/change your decision? I don't have the technical ability to be a webmaster but am quite a good proofreader, etc. I could give about 5 hrs/week. (2) Does this mean you are cutting off emailed nominations? - More volunteers would definitely make Tracy's life easier, but the coding is kind of a one person job. I suspect she would be thrilled to have some help with the backlog, though. I certainly understand, Pixie. I barely have time to keep the HBX Archives updated, and I don't proof read the stories. So it's no use my offering to help.
