- I know that I'm a 'gusher' when it comes to David, but I just can't help it. In addition to the obvious - his looks, his charm, his talent - he is such a 'substantial' person. Unlike so many celebrities, who toot their own horns, David flies under the radar. He quietly goes about his business - doing good, giving back, making a difference. A 'Timely' Connection Extra To End The Day -- AJ, Wednesday, May 15, 11:06:50pm [9]

I read about an Englishman, Sir Frank Whittle, a Royal Air Force engineer, high-ranking officer, and pilot for 25 years, who retired in 1948. What
makes him stand out, is that TODAY in 1941 he flew over England the first (!) jet-powered flight in history, with an engine he had designed and built
for the Air Force, flying up to 25,000 feet at 325 mph. But most people thought he and his invention were eccentric and would never be important!!
WWII broke out officially about a week later, and there was new interest in it. But in the years after, he had much opposition, plus difficulty with
funding. He never gave up (!) and eventually the vast potential of the jet engine won out. He is now rightly called the father of the jet engine, and upon
his Air Force retirement, he was honored with knighthood by King George VI in 1948, coming to America shortly thereafter. For the rest of his life he
remained here, continued his research, lectured extensively, and wrote a number of scientific articles and books. Passing away at his Maryland home
in 1996 at 89, his ashes were buried at a little church in England, very near where he had made that first flight.

Without this man's amazing work, think how different our world would be! And aren't we also glad (!) because without that work, we would not have
the chance to now enjoy CDR Don Wincroft and, of course, CAPT Harmon Rabb, Jr (Great pics Cindy chose of him and posted below this morning!).
And here's one final ironic note about Mr.Whittle---for several years in the 1970's, he was a college professor at none other than the United States
Naval Academy at Annapolis---small world!

- Maximus, perhaps you could contact verison tech support and ask them why they consider it dangerous. I have received the all clear from my hosting company. We did 3 different scans. Not sure what else I can do. Special code has been added to the site that is suppose to help prevent hackers so hopefully going forward we won't have any more problems. - She can try Target, Walmart, Best Buy or perhaps some video stores. However, they often only sell DVD's for a period of time after they first come out, but it never hurts to ask what titles they may have on hand. Walmart has "Truth Be Told" available online for delivery or store pickup. If no luck, online is the way to go, and their delivery time is usually pretty good. Amazon has quite a few titles available, also some on ebay. Lifetime (mylifetime.com >>> shop) currently has "Confined" available. Some of the older titles are available here for charity fund raising (click on the Purpose Behind the Passion line above >>> DVD's to share), The options I can think of off hand. CONNECTIONS: --EXPLODING SUN--
DianneUK 'connected' with me (thank you!), and gave me what we could call some Exploding Sun Trivia!

First---we were all under the impression that the UK airing of EXPLODING SUN was the premiere of it anywhere. But a friend
of hers in Sweden, informed her that they had already seen it there (!)---apparently some time in February right when it became
available. Certainly fits the definition of world-wide distribution!

Then---you will recall in the review Dianne gave us, she said there was one very shocking scene of Julia Ormand's, and David was
not in it. When she watched the UK's second airing of both parts on Saturday, Syfy had cut out that Julia Ormand scene! (Dianne
posted about this below, and you can see by the way she wrote it, she was very surprised!) Of course, I haven't seen the scene,
but considering the kinds of things that can be seen on Syfy, what a surprise they thought it was 'too much'! I'm not a fan of horrible
shocking scenes, but it is a story about many people facing imminent awful destruction. I hope that other channels won't do the same,
will give a proper warning, and we will get to see it at least once, for the sake of the story the director is trying to tell. Then we can
decide to never watch the scene again if we like. If nothing else, we've been told, that all 5 of these miniseries will be out on DVD,
once they've been aired a few times. Very interesting development! We'll stay tuned!

  - Very sorry for any confusion!! When "Exploding Sun" first came out, it was part of a 'set' of 5 new mini-series sold to various channels. At the time, we posted a couple of links to those notices and articles. So I made an assumption (I try to not do that!) that folks would reference back to that. But that was a while ago. The correct info is that David is in only one of the 5 mini-series, which is "Exploding Sun". The other 4 mini-series star other people. So the 5 coming out on DVD eventually after they air, are David's "Exploding Sun" plus these other 4 miniseries. As for "Rufus" and "Another Stateside", we don't know much yet about how or when they are coming out, but we will continue to monitor closely. Again, apologies (!) and thanks. Exploding Sun, part II. Worth waiting for but I don't wish to spoil it for anyone. David's performance is what you would expect from a true professional, great! Lots of jealousy & anger between Don & Craig,reason being the "eternal triangle" scenario,however Don really loves his wife Cheryl, enough said. Julia Ormond's performance is exceptional in a really shocking scene which does not involve David's character. Don is given the mission to save the planet,and although he is injured (I'm not going to tell you how!) he flies the mission anyway (shades of Harm in that one!)
