A LITTLE MORE IMPACT --- Some Added Insights...... -- AJ, Saturday, June 13, 03:08:12pm [9]
Natasha Henstridge, David's co-star, did an exclusive phone interview this week with SciFi, and here are a few excerpts of her reflections on IMPACT. She describes preparing for the movie, mentions David's role, and also what her family thought about the movie when they saw it.

She says real science is behind Impact. ---- "We actually worked with an astrophysicist up in Canada. When I was working in the observatory up there, got some answers (to my questions) I probably could have lived without! A little more eye-opening than I had imagined! It's...one of those things that is very sci-fi, but at the end of the day, the possibility of this happening is kind of there. So it makes it that much more exciting to work on."

She describes the brown drawf impact effecting the moon. ---- "We then start to realize that...like a magnet, (the moon) is pulling...closer and closer to Earth. And we, as these brilliant scientists that we are (laughs) have to stop it."

She describes part of her role. ---- "She sort of keeps in touch with Washington on all things concerning astrophysics...But not quite ready for what I have to take on, they...ask me to put a team together. And I go back to my old college sweetheart, played by David James Elliott, Alex Kittner in the film. I go back to him because he's one of the best minds in the business, as well. We have to band together and find a way to stop this horrible catastrophe from happening."

She describes seeing the finished movie. ---- "I just saw it. My kids watched it with me as well...it was a real treat for us. We watched the first night, and they were begging me to watch the second night. There were really riveted by it. They loved it. That was really exciting for me. And it's educational as well. I'm not a huge sci-fi fan. I am a fan of something that is educational and teaches you something as you're shooting it...I like films that have some plausibility--a possibility to it. I think that's really interesting."

The whole earth and moon thing at the beginning had me thinking, What's being depicted here, the end of our age? Listed above for this week in Canada is the Alfred Hitchcock episode of "In The Driver's Seat", a series rarely broadcast! This particular episode also stars Greg Evigan, who turns into a crazed killer. Of interest, next week the JAG episode "Empty Quiver" will be seen on HDNet and will also be on USA in July. Working with David again is Greg Evigan, guest starring as a Chief that helps Harm solve a shipboard crime. The Hitchcock episode was broadcast on Feb.17 and JAG on Feb.25 -- Just 14 years apart! -- A.H. in 1989 and JAG in 2003. That kind of continuity and longevity is always fun to see, not to mention quite amazing in that business, and seems to me well worth noting!

- It may have been short, but it was great! He looked wonderful (both past and present). - Such a great interview. Did you notice how David just "took over the explanation" when Natasha seemed to stumble on her thoughts?     - When you hit "Enter" that is the same as clicking on a button with your mouse. Voy is set up so that the "send" button is the default button, if you will, so when you hit enter, it thinks you are intending to hit send, but just being lazy and not using you're mouse.         cmlb- we've all been a little crazy tonight with David's interview on ET. BTW - cmlb I can't believe someone actually mentioned a "manual typewriter". Thats how I learned to type.         Ronda- How funny, all of a sudden- "manual typewriter" talk. Actually, I hated the electric typewriter. I loved the manual- I could really type alot of words minute.         Went for my 6K walk and you all went down memory lane without me. Back then, I was queen of the manual - had a rhythm going like you wouldn't believe. At the end of the line, you slap that lever with such flourish - yeah, those were the days. When the office went electric, the IBM Seletric they called them, I refused to take one.   - If you are asking me - seriously - I would say No. He was not serious. Not to say if he was actuallly asked to do some kind of cameo that he wouldn't do it - assuming conditions were right - but in the interview I think it was a joke. ET has a terrible way of slicing interviews and doing voiceovers so we missed what else was being said. Perhaps tonight's will give us a bit more. But I need to correct you - I do not 'know' the guy.
