I just finished Dr. Parkers Humanities Contract and found it to be very rewarding. I have all the books in good condition if anyone is interested. Best of luck.

I am just beginning Dr. Neggers History of Mathematics Contract. Has anyone completed this course? I would welcome any information on how you chose the subjects for your papers, preferred presentation, ect.

Have any of you heard about the new External Degree Society? We have been trying to get the word out, but it seems that EXD students do not know what the EXD Society is or how it can help them. Please let me know if you are interested in joining a group that has or is frantically working a job, dealing with family life, staying active in church, and working on their degree all at the same time. The EXD program is wonderful, and I learned so much while having fun with on- campus classes as well as contracts I wrote. I was scared to death about the Senior Project, but it was not bad at all. I was even placed in a test program under the Director of the Department of Biology at UAB, Dr. Ken Marion, (I live near UAB). At first I was so afraid of being a professor’s only student, and a biology professor at that since my topic was “The Potential Degradation of the Upper Cahaba River”. I am a business major, but I came through with flying colors and received an Honors Award in the studies of Natural History. The EXD Society is working on establishing an endowment for current students to receive scholarships. We are excited about the changes in the EXD Program, and we look forward to hearing from you. If you want more stories like mine, and assistance from individuals that have been in your shoes, please contact me.

Hello, are there any new students? I have not seen any postings lately. I am a new student, although I have been in the program before. I would appreciate any help with the course recommendations etc.

I believe most forum communication is now available on the ua portal. This forum seems to be very stagnant.

Visit this site at MyBama.UA.EDU. On the home page in the upper right hand corner click on the “Groups” icon (little picture of people) and then search for External Degree. When you click on that, you will be directed to the new Groups site. Make use of this site and visit it frequently for new information.

In years past I have enrolled in and enjoyed several summer seminars on subjects ranging from Shakespeare to the History of Jazz. I have been away traveling, have just returned, and cannot find any information on summer seminars this year. Can anyone direct me to what's available this summer?
Thanks,
Risse Coffee

I am scheduled to attend the August seminar. At this point I have many questions, particularly about the Prior Learning Credit Option. If anyone can shed any light, please reply. Also, I still have not decided what depth study to pursue. Will that be a problem if I donn't know when I get there. At this stage in my life, I just need to get out as quick as I can!

Hey- I am really interested in the program here and was just wondering what the average cost is? I've got previous college experience, so I'm not totally sure as to what all I would need to do.
Any input would be great! Thanks.

Hello, I am currently trying to decide if the EXD program would be a good fit for me or if I should do another one of the degrees offered by UA. Would you share your experiences, background (education/career) and expected graduation? Thanks

Is anyone working or about to begin their Senior Project? If so, in which depth study? and how did you determine to pinpoint one specific objective?

Thanks

Who plans on taking the next weekend course - whenever it may be? If so, what are you interested in taking? I know I would like to see more weekend courses offered - maybe even a Spanish course (since you can't seem to get those anywhere)
