yes you are right it's not fair. It is not fair the the older girls because they want someone who looks like they are 13 or 14 years old. So if you are very young you have the upper hand. Don't try and look older.

you'll be lucky to get a new picture before august when France leaves for orlando. that's just how they roll up there. not really concerned with the public face of the organization (ie. website). it's sad.

Just so you are asking, Lydia's song was "On My Own." I think she deserved her talent win and her Top 5 placement. She did an excellent job. I can see her consistently improving, and I would not be at all surprised to see her eventually win in a year or so.

Some positive praise;
This past week was spent in Vicksburg by our states outstanding teens. During this time the actions and emotions along with some rattled nerves were raging for the girls. In all my years of pageantry she is simply one of a kind. I must say she is to be recognize because once again this year she exemplified to others the things that are more important than a crown. Last year making the top ten. This year she did not but it never changed her spirit.
I would like for those of you who know Magnolia's sweet Makel that she is an absolute treasure. That girl is beautiful both inside and out. Without a doubt she's a stunning, and talented girl. Her beauty catches your eye but it's her spirit, personality and character that is to be commended. I have never seen a more genuine, loving soul. She has the beauty and spirit of an angel. She was a treasure to spend the week with.  Truly OUTSTANDING. I posted some of this on the Miss page as well because I hope someone that knows her and her family will share this praise with them.
Lastly congratulations to France. I know she will serve Mississippi well.

My daughter has been there the past two years with her and we must absolutely agree.
They are all outstanding or they wouldn’t have been there but once you get there ALL eyes are on the same crown. Some not so outstanding behaviors arise. Pageant jitters overwhelm. Fatigue sets in from the exhausting week. Makel is the shinning light that literally bounces around nurturing others with encouragement and that big ol’ heart and smile. We had her picked for Miss Congeniality both years. While taking pictures after finals we actually herd someone say “I’m sorry you didn’t make top ten again” to which she replied “ It was God’s plans for having me here and I know His plans have a purpose. I gave it my all and have faith that I served His purpose. I had a great week with my friends. I wouldn’t take anything for it” She is such a unique girl. For my daughter the MMOT pageant won’t be the same with Makel not there she’s aging up next year.

This was a great week of competition with some strong talents. Standouts were France Beard (overall talent winner and our new MMOT), Jamie Ferguson (Clinton), Mackenzie Pollack (Vicksburg) and Lydia Meyers (Delta Blues). The winner and first three alternates were all first time MMOT girls. France has an "it" look and should do well in Orlando.

HUH? Seniors are not allowed - regardless of age. This happened a couple of years ago and everyone pitched a fit. It was because she skipped a grade or some such. Suffice it to say that whoever it is just is wasting her time and her parents money. She won't make the cut or win a prelim if she's a senior. I don't care if she's the second coming of Susan Akin herself. The MMBOD won't award a girl who is not elig. because then they'd face the wrath...

A contestant is eligible for MMOT as long as she is only 16 at graduation. If she is 17 she would compete in miss. I find it odd, and frankly not in keeping with the purpose of MM scholarship pageant, that anyone would “pitch a fit” about a girl that performs well in school.

No, she cannot have begun her Senior year. Therefore if she is 16 and a high school graduate, she cannot compete in OT or Miss.

If the folks in charge of this fiasco would get a set of written rules out to the local directors, this wouldn't be an issue.

Transparency, people. It takes the suspiciousness of impropriety out of everyone's minds.

I think it would be very stupid to not accept a girl who is not old enough for Miss but who has kicked butt (grade wise) in school... age wise she is a teen and you can't argue with that. Yes... lets punish her for being smart.

how is this fair for a senior to be entered. Page and Henry were overlooked for winning because they would be seniors this year. Sounds like someone is writing the rules as they go.

Girls entering their senior year have always been eligible ? If they don't want a girl to be in her senior year to be a contender to win the title then they should make some changes because there are plenty of contestants who will be seniors this upcoming school year.

The girl in question is Tupelo OT. She has graduated from high school and is 16. Her birthday is after the pageant in June, so she is technically eligible for the OT pageant.

End of story.

We're talking about being qualified to participate here (which she is) not being thought of as too old to be considered teen material.

THIS IS ALL A MOOT POINT BECAUSE THEY'LL NEVER LET HER WIN. THEY WANT A TEEN WHO IS A TEEN - MEANING IN HIGH SCHOOL...NOT COLLEGE. SHE COULD MAKE TOP 10 (because, let's face it, almost 1/2 the entire field of competitors will this year), BUT SHE WON'T BE IN THE TOP 5. THEY WON'T RISK PUTTING HER ON THAT FINAL BALLOT BECAUSE SHE'D NEVER FARE WELL AT MAOT.

BESIDES, EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS THING IS ALREADY IN THE BOOKS AS ANNE ELIZABETH'S.

Obviously you must be correct since you put it in all CAPS. The problem is that MMOT and MAOT both disagree with you. If she doesn’t win it won’t be because of her age or grade in High School.

Why do some people think rules set and given to contestants and parents do not
apply to them? (Mom enters the building with

What is sad is that this comment has to come from someone working with the girls. How else would you know she went toward the stage and starting taking pictures. Why not just explain to the parent that she isn't allowed there during the practice. I bet she is just trying to capture every aspect of her daughter's experience. I bet she didn't mean any harm to anyone. Is this her daughter's first trip to state? Take a deep breath and enjoy yourself. You are helping make memories in these girls life. Lighten up!

HALF of them.

There are only 21 competing. So, the girls have about a 50%/50% shot of making the finals. However, this probably means that making the Top 10 this year will not be much of an accomplishment, and our eventual winner will probably be ill-prepared for nationals because of the lack of competition on the state level.

There are more than 21 contestants. And because the numbers are lower than normal doesn't mean we don't have some great girls competing. Have you seen some of the other state winners? Whoever wins Mississippi will be fine.

When did it change to 21? Who left? There were 25 at orientation. Yes, is still lower than normal. However, it is better that the girls that are there are title winners and not appointed tite holders. I was at many pageants this year and I can assure you there are several qualified girls, do not let the numbers fool you competition will be stiff.

RUDE! There will be no lack of competition. The grades, poise, beauty and life styles of the listed winners speak loud and clear. Now add the talent. Yes, there is much talent to be seen this year. The only thing that appears to be ill- prepared is your comment. Outstanding girls from all over our state who are doing good things. It is sad and rude that you would judge so harshly because of a number.

This was on the Miss Page and worthy of re-
Posting here. So True.
This is my public service announcement for this pageant year. Parents and friends of girls, do not come on this board and post how wonderful, talented and exceptional your contestant is. If you do, other people are going to feel compelled to explain why in their opinion she isn't. This can be very upsetting to the girl. I don't know why people do this, but trust me they do. The best any contestant can hope for is to never be mentioned on this board, but that is unlikely to happen. The more parents and friends rave about a girl on here, the more people are going to find something unpleasant to say.
Obviously, there is greatness in each and every one of these girl. They all share the same ambitions, to be the next Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen. Congratulations to all the contestants.

The 'other one' is Robinson. And they'll say that the only reason she's doing it is because she's president of the local director's group. Well, I call foul on this crap! it is not standard operating procedure for the person in this position to present flowers to any winner. Why don't they just save everyone the time and energy and just crown the Henry girl now? Geez - could they be any more stupid about this??

Christina Bostick is their other one. She's the one they charged $100 an hour for mock interviews. The saddest part about this is that the Miss MS office knows about it and has chosen to do NOTHING at all about it. The Miss MS office even has a copy of the invoice that Marks sent to this girl's parents.

No surprise there. The MMBOD knows he's running a consulting business and charging Miss & Teen contestants, while concurrently running locals and judging MAO prelims. But, they'll never do anything about it. He's golden. The only way you'll ever affect change here is to put him out of business by not using him as a coach & then by girls boycotting his prelims (like they're starting to do to Margaret Henry up in North MS). When he doesn't get the contestants he wants anymore, he'll have to make some decisions. But, as of now, he's got the best of both worlds. Why would he stop?

I would like to take this opportunity to respond to this post, since it personally attacks me. I am Tracy Robinson, President of the Miss Mississippi Local Pageant Directors Association. I was contacted this morning informing me of this post, and I feel the need to address the issue and put it to rest for those who are concerned. During a talent rehearsal this week, I was approached by a MMP representative asking me, as President of the local directors, to assist in presenting awards on Saturday night. Though proud that the MMP had made an attempt to include the local director's group, I declined the offer...mainly because I knew that my contestants would be the ones who would have to suffer the certain unfair persecution of this message board should I accept. For quite some time, local directors have voiced their feelings that the MMP rarely acknowledged the presence of the local directors group and the hard work of the directors throughout the year. I feel that this was an honest gesture on the part of the MMP to include our group, and that is appreciated. Should you have more questions concerning this issue, you can find my phone number on the MMP website along with the other directors' numbers. Though I will not respond via this forum again, I would be happy to speak with you personally should you need further clarification. Additionally, I will be in section 700 tonight at the pageant...specifically on Row A 703 should you want to discuss it in person. Best of luck to all contestants tonight.

Best regards,
Tracy Robinson

Of course she won't, because there's no defense. But if she has anything to say about it, it'll most likely be to the tune of,

"I'll let him address this since it does not involve me" - even though it most certainly does because her name IS tied to this prelim.

or

"There's nothing to address. No one did anything wrong."

BTW, who was the invoice from? Did actual names appear on it as to who coached Christina, or did it just have his "SSS" business logo?

So, Ms. Tracy, would you now like to step forward about why you and Michael skipped out of the last night of Miss MS and were COMPLETE NO SHOWS at the final event?

Everyone finds it tacky and RUDE that you'd leave your girl hanging out to dry on the final night. But, we're not surprised in the least. It's just like something you'd do. You either knew or had a heads-up that your girls (specifically Cofield) would not be making the cut, and instead of coming to cheer her on anyway and be a good sport for the rest of the evening, you just sat back in your hotel room & watched. Didn't even attend the awards ball. TACKY, TACKY, TACKY - and I feel sorry for whatever girls and parents have to work with you now.

You cannot be trusted or counted on when it really matters - so why do anything for anyone at any other time if you're going to skip out when it matters most? RUDE AND CLASSLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The people posting nasty comments about Ryan Henry owe her a big apology. The truth is that you all thought she'd win because she clearly deserved it.The fact that her mom won years ago was a ridiculous argument and you know it!Meanwhile, the judges were actually stacked with dancers which wasn't in HER favor. The commotion you stirred up undoubtedly made it impossible for her win so it went to someone who didn't score high in Osq/eg and was at least 3rd (maybe 4th) lowest of the 5 in talent. The judges didn't lift a pencil once during osq for top 5 so they'd already picked them. My question is why do they even recompete if they've already placed them. someone please clarify.I just don't get why Kim Page or Sumler werent in top 3.

Do we really have to go over this again??????????????

The MMBOD owes Michael Marks. Bostick was one of his girls - the one with less mom baggage - and he charged her for interview coaching. Now everyone who thinks that Miss MS is really gonna do something about how he charged her for coaching, raise your hands...anyone? anyone? Nope. Especially not now that she's Miss MS's OT. Why would she complain at this point? Case closed, problem solved - and Ryan got to leave with a nice parting gift and a quick ticket to be a contestant in the Miss MS 2011 pageant.

Poor thing is disappointed because the educational system let her down. She doesn't know how to use punctuation or spell the word disappointed. If that's the case, then you probably need to work on interview. If you speak like you write then you are in serious trouble.

i agree. the girls that prepair them selves work hard to be the best they can be do not get a fair deal. Last year when page won all of her prelims and was not selected the winner in the end was just so unfair. why would any girl want to ever be put in that place again. it shows that just because you work hard and CHOSEN the winner in each event doesnt mean you will win if it was preselected on who they wanted. its a waiste of the girls and parents time. the MMOT is a real joke.

I think all top 10 contenders were very strong contingents. How many can we look for to return? How many aged out?

I haven't heard anyone but this is a great chance for girls to get 3 for the price of 1 if they live in the Metro Jackson area or 2 for the price of 1 if they live elsewhere.

This is one of the only shots girls will get to enter 2 opens at once. The only other pageants to offer this will be:

Coastal Waters/Spirit of the South & Dixieland/Deep South

Winner - Christina Bostick
She is young, beautiful, talented and a breath of fresh air. Her talent was good, dress and on stage question was good and I liked her fitness...When looking at the final ballot and asking who will be a better contender for AOT think she is the girl....Here's why

Ryan Henry - (Forget who her Mom is/was) Even though she is pretty and talented...She is going into her Sr year....which like it or not she is too old based on what MAOT has crowned in the past and she is too programed...

Kimberly Page - Okay....I will admit it I thought she had won....but I can understand why she didn't...She looked like a Miss Contestant and bless her heart she tried to play it down it just did not work...She would have been a great MMOT but would not have shown up at AMOT

Holly Harrington - cute....but to young and immature

Chassidy Sumler - I think she should have placed higher...I thought all week it would come down to her, Page and Henry....But, Chassidy is cute but she is NOT a total package....She is can sing but did not pick the right song for her....Has a good interview and looked lovely in EG....BUT she just DOES NOT look the part...

Looking at each girl....yes Page, Henry and Sumler out sang the winner.....But they did not out shine her on stage...She held her own and is the most workable for AMOT...and looking at what AMOT has crowned in the past she will be a GOOD contender

I think that this is a pretty fair assessment. The only thing I have to disagree on is that Henry did not out-sing the winner. She sang the last part of her song off pitch. She should have been 4th alternate, if top 5 at all.

Disagree with you on Sumler's song. She tied for overall talent, so the sn choice was obviously spot on.

Kitty litter - Ha. how cute and clever...not. It is apparent your girl didn't win. After attending MAOT in Orlando the last two years I can tell you from experience the only two girls out of the top 5 who would have a chance in Orlando are Christine and Holly Harrington. Both are young, have a fresh look and are very well spoken. The list of qualities that the judges were given specifies that the girl be those things as well as friendly and approachable.
Kim Page and Chassidy Sumler are beautiful, talent girls but neither of them have a "fresh" look. Both have a more mature, polished look. Ryan Henry is a beautiful, talented girl but she does not come off as friendly or approachable. When you stand with your head tilted up so that people can see the underside of your chin, friendly isn't the impression people get. Lastly, all three of these girls will be seniors in the fall. The girl who wins MAOT has to travel and make appearances. It is much easier to do that your Sophmore or Junior year and make it up than your Senior year.

The girl that won MAOT looked just as mature as Kimberly and Chassidy apparently they were not looking for young and fresh

why put the girls through all the trouble of 3 nights. page won both nights and then overall talent. why do that and in the end pick another that did not even do as well over all. still think its a set up . henry placed higher then page and page had 3 wins to henrys 1. its over now but still not fair.

That is what the top five ballot is all about. Your previous scores only get you to the top five and then they go out the window. It doesn't matter that Page won any prelim night awards. The only thing that mattered is that the judges did not think she was the best one to go on to the National pageant.

Or the judges might have favored the leaf valley girls. Don't you think it is strange that their girls got the top two spots? Or maybe instead of going to Paris this year for her birthday she wanted a trip to Orlando?? Anyway you look at it I really don't think she will do well at Nationals. What Miss Mississippi is telling the girls is that you can come to the state pageant and win every prelim and you still can have the crown taken away from you. This is why the teen pageant is dying! I really hope Page does the Miss program, but wouldn't blame her if she didn't. How many girls that have made top five in the teen program is doing the Miss Program? I can't think of any. Think about it!

Kim MIGHT do better in the Miss but keep in mind the top five ballot is in effect there as well. If she doesn't come off as likeable in interview and the judges don't make a connection to her the top five ballot will kill her in Miss as well.

Agree they should have chosen kimberly, Chassidy or Ryan I think they would have done better. On an earlier post they said she was younger and that's what they were looking for but a girl going into her senior year won just as those three are going into their senior year

I've had a lot of positive feedback on the pictures I posted from MMOT and have been getting requests for prints. I've been brainstorming trying to figure out a way to make high resolution images available to those who want them for a reasonable cost. Let me first say that I'm NOT in this to make money. I have a full-time job that pays me well and I only do this because I enjoy it. But there is a lot more involved in photography than most people realize and trust me...taking the photos is the easy part. Just from the final night of the MMOT pageant I had taken like 730 photos. I could have EASILY taken 2-3 times that amount. All those photos then have to be downloaded to computer and backed up on DVD...that can take 30min to over an hour, depending on the number of photos. But the REALLY time consuming part is editing the photos. I'm not necessarily a perfectionist, but I do want to put out the best looking images I can and they don't come out of the camera looking like that. I don't care who you are...ANY photo can be improved to some degree. With these type of pageant photos, I basically crop them for the best composition of the main subject, tweak the exposure to make them brighter or darker, and sharpen them up a bit. Then they are converted into JPEG images of whatever size I need them to be. For one image, this process only takes 2-3 minutes if I'm really in the zone. But multiply that times several hundred photos and then you're looking at upwards of 15 HOURS of editing. No longer a fun hobby...that's WORK.
So anyway, I'm trying to decide for this and future events how do all this that's easy for everyone. I'm thinking about posting a small size, unedited, uncropped proof of EVERY image on my Flickr account and letting people order prints or photos on CD of only the ones they want. I would then edit the selections and have them printed or send them on CD as full-resolution images. Another idea would be to just sell CD's with ALL the full size, straight-from-the-camera images and letting people try to crop, edit and print them on their own. Or I could do both.

Any thoughts on what would work best?? What would be a reasonable amount to charge for the CD with all images? What would be a reasonable amount to charge per image for edited pictures? Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated. I'm posting this on the Miss site as well.

And by the way...I personally don't mind anyone right-clicking and saving my images off of Facebook and sharing them with family via email or whatever. And I don't mind you trying to make prints from them either...but I just don't think the print quality will be good at all. If anyone tries this and gets good results, PLEASE let me know. Thanks

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyy everybody!!

It's that time again. Time for our mock top 10 for Miss MS 2010. So, if you're interested in participating, please email your picks for top 10 to me at TPDPhD@gmail.com. Only 1 entry per person/email address. Please list exactly 10 names. If fewer are listed, your entry will be thrown out. If more are listed, only the first 10 names which appear will be counted.

You have a week to submit your lists and then I'll post the names of the ten women who got the most votes. From there, we'll decide on a top 5 and then eventually a winner.

Have fun with it - it's supposed to be for entertainment and to choose who you think will win, not who you personally want to win. Let's see how close we can get to what the judges will say! Last year we had the Top 3 chosen correctly, just placed in a different order.

Enjoy!

I'VE GOT FRIENDS IN HATTIESBURG WHO SAW ONE OF THOSE DIGITAL BILLBOARDS OVER THE WEEKEND WITH CHRISTINA BOSTICK'S PICTURE ON IT. ACTUALLY, IT WAS THE PRELIM WINNERS PICTURE FROM FRIDAY NIGHT - THE SAME ONE THAT'S ON THE MISS MS WEBSITE THAT SHOWS ALL 3 OF THEM. THAT WAS SUPER QUICK TO GET A DIGITAL BILLBOARD UP! WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THAT?

NOW THEY'RE SEEING A DIFFERENT PICTURE. IT'S THE CROWN SHOT OF HER ALONE WITH HER NAME AND TITLE AND "CONGRATUATIONS." IS THIS STANDARD EVERY YEAR FOR THE WINNER? DID MISS MS PAY FOR IT?

The board was first put up with the picture of the prelim winners from Friday night. Keep in mind that Henry,Bostick and Page were the winners. Henry and Bostick both go to Oak Grove High School in Hattiesburg and Page is Hattiesburg OT. It was changed to the crown shot after Bostick won on Saturday. Miss MS is not paying for this billboard.

2 of those 3 prelim winners are Marks' girls. That's a no-brainer. LRV paid for it. Or maybe Marks' new consulting firm paid for it because Bostick and Henry are clients and they're trying to drum up business in that area.

It is not standard procedure for Miss MS to do that type of thing and they don't have the budget for it anyway. It was not them. I wonder what billboard company they used? I bet you could call and find out who placed the ad. Those kinds of things are public info.

From The Hattiesburg American
submitted June 07, 2010

Leaf Foundation contestants fared well in the 2010 Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen Pageant, taking the top two spots in the state competition held Saturday in Vicksburg.

Miss Leaf River Valley's Outstanding Teen Christina Bostick was named Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen and Miss Riverland's Outstanding Teen Ryan Henry was named first runner-up at the state finals.

"We are thrilled that the best of our local is now the standard for the best in the state," said Leaf Foundation CEO Michael Marks. "I am proud for our scholarship winners and for our board of directors that has worked so hard to put on a quality local competition and prepare our girls for the state contest. I have the best team imaginable."

Bostick, daughter of Jon and Angela Bostick of Hattiesburg, is a junior at Oak Grove High School and performed a dance to "Jellicle Ball" from the musical, "Cats" for her talent. She was named preliminary winner of the talent competition.

As Miss Leaf River Valley's Outstanding Teen, she represented Covington, Forrest, Greene, Lamar and Perry counties at the state pageant.

Henry, daughter of Ralph and Carla Abraham of Hattiesburg, is a senior at Oak Grove High School and sang "The Girl in Apartment 14-G" as her talent.

Henry was named an evening wear winner in Friday's preliminary contest and represented the state at large as Miss Riverland's Outstanding Teen.

Bostick now prepares to represent Mississippi in the national competition, scheduled for Aug. 24-27 in Orlando, Fla., said Susan Slaughter, Leaf Foundation vice-chair.

"She has our prayers and well wishes as she prepares for this monumental undertaking," Slaughter said.

Also the daughter of Ralph and Carla Abraham, Kayleigh Henry now inherits the local title of Miss Leaf River Valley's Outstanding Teen.

A freshman at Oak Grove High School, she finished first runner-up to Bostick in the Leaf River Valley Teen Competition held in February.

(submitted photos) Christina Bostick is Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen.

The winner is a pretty girl, but I'm kinda surprised that the cut of the neckline on this gown is considered appropriate for teen.

She is a beautiful young woman, but I think the dress is entirely too sexy for OT. It does not look like the usual dressing for Marks and his crew. Are you sure she worked with Marks? Just because she won his local does not mean she was coached by him. Does anyone know for sure?

>She did not work with Marks because he tried to charge her for mock interview help! Her dress was beautiful on stage and very appropriate. Ryan Henry's dress however was not. Every step she took it looked like her "treasures" were going to pop out over the top. Much more revealing than the one that Christine had on.

Really? I cannot imagine Henry's dress being lower cut than the one Bostick has on. Looks like if she were to raise her hands above her head it reveal her boobage immediately!

impossible, you can not see in this pic but the dress does have straps. it was very teen feeling and is similar to the necklines that have always won MOT. Christina is just a little blessed..lol...and like the other poster said on stage everyone was holding breath to make sure RH did not pop out. Teenage girls normally have boobies, get over it

Duh! We get it that teens have boobs. But if you have to add straps to a gown to keep it up then you should go for another style, especially if you're a teen. If the dress you choose makes it this obvious that you're blessed, then you choose another gown. There's no way she could lean over/bend down to take a picture with a child without making it possible for everyone to see down the dress. As a parent, I just find it inappropriate. (And before someone starts bashing me, let me emphatically state that I did not have a child in the pageant, I don't know this child, and don't know anyone who does know her.)

How is it possible that she did not work with Marks when there was reportedly an invoice sent to her parents charging for coaching. The invoice in question was reportedly copied and turned over to the MMBOD for further investigation of a local director charging contestants for services.

Furthermore, if she didn't work with him or his business partner (westmoreland) at all then why in the world did Marks' partner director in the pageant (Robinson) not state that when she posted the message here relating to them & being asked to present flowers on Saturday night and saying no. The info relating to Bostick being charged for coaching was in the same thread.

It would've been the easy out to say that it was impossible for Marks or his SSS company to have charged her when they didn't even work with her. But, since there was no statement made to that effect, we're left to believe that it's true because she refuted a claim which she stated was not true...but left this claim unrefuted.

I tend to believe that she did work with him or his SSS company and that they did charge her. Furthermore, a friend who was at Miss Mississippi orientation weekend in March saw Robinson, Marks, and Westmoreland in the Sunday orientation session for the Miss contestants. Since when are coaches allowed in that setting? My understanding has always been that it's closed to everyone except: contestants, parents of contestants (and in some cases younger siblings), and local directors. Why did Miss MS allow a paid coach who is working with contestants in the pageant to attend orientation?

She did not work with him. He sent a schedule of meetings along with an invoice. Her parents politely refused to pay. Tracy Robinson was aware as she was the one that told them to pay in cash instead of a check. These two know they did this girl wrong...that is why they did not even go up on stage when she was crowned, nor did they bother to go to the luncheon for the winner on Sunday with the Miss MS Board members.

Did they do this to all their girls? Or do Cofield & Henry get preferrential treatment because they're the favored ones? I'd have a hard time believing that they charged Carla Haag to work with her kid after they rode her literal tiny, black coattails all the way to Miss America.

How can this be allowed to continue?

I think maybe Page looked too good to be true. That's the only thing I can think of because she was perfection in every area. I bet if she tries Miss prelims next year she'll have better luck. The really prepared, professional contestants seem to fare better in Miss than Teen. Teen seems to want an "Aw...shucks, mister!" kind of girl. And not that it's a bad thing, it's just the way it seems.

I thought Ryan did a good job with her talent but in my opinion it was too "Jr Miss". I don't mean anything bad about Jr Miss, but it was very theatrical...lots of acting out what she was singing. I have seen many more talents of that nature in Jr. Miss than Outstanding Teen. I bet she would have done very well in Jr. Miss. Just another thought...everyone thought she was going to win it all because her mother is a former Miss MS. It could be that she was held to a higher standard because of that...the judges may have expected more from her and didn't feel that she delivered.

I dont really think that Page was that deserving of both of those prelim awards. Maybe one, but not both. There were several other girls who couldve taken that evening gown tie with Henry. The judges probably finaly opened their eyes and saw that tonight and thats why they tanked her on the final ballot. They actually focused on who would go to Miss America's Outstanding Teen and do very well. The girl that won isnt really your typical Miss MS type that we send every year to Miss and Teen. Pageant Patty. She's new and fresh as someone posted on the miss board. She's not "country" or your typical southern pageant winner. Im glad the teen pageant was so early this year too so that now our teen has more time to prepare. I think they saw that's why were not getting any winners or finalists at nationals. She'll definitely be contender for the national crown and let me tell you she's got that talent award. And who knows, she probably scored higher than anybody in interview(considering that she paid $100 an hour for coaching as some you say)

I agree that the judges got it right with Christina. I was taken with her all week and when I saw her talent I had her pegged for first runner up or the winner. It is a shame that Michael Marks and Tracy Robinson could not bring themselves to go onstage and have their picture taken with her, but she is better off without them.

That is a shame, but not a surprise. I bet they were too busy consoling Henry about the loss and getting ready to start pumping her about competing in miss now that she's aged out of teen. (that's right, isn't it? she'll be a senior this fall?) But regardless you can bet your sweet bippy that later on when it comes time to gather accolades, they'll be right there beside Bostick soaking it all in.

Congratulations to the top 5 and 10 contestants as well. You all deserved it and I think everyone worked very hard for that week. The judges were amazing and incredibly sweet. On Friday night all the scores are totaled. The top ten are then known by both the MMOT and the judges. Once the Top five is determined on Saturday night, all scores go out the window. The judges rank the top five in order of their preference. The judges are told to rank the girls on how well they think they will do at the National pageant. That is why a double prelim winner like Page may not end up winning. The judges just did not feel like she was the best person to win.

Just saw this on the Miss MS messageboard. Sounds pretty plausable. I've copied and pasted to repost on here.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Think about it. Page and Henry split the votes and Bostick won. Here's the likely scenario:

Judge #1 - loves Page & considers Henry/Sumler biggest competition. Liked Bostick overall, but didn't consider her a major threat. Final ballot: Page (10), Bostick (5), Harrington (3), Sumler (2), Henry (1)

Judge #2 - ditto Judge #1. Page (10), Bostick (5), Harrington (3), Henry (2), Sumler (1)

Judge #3 - loves Henry & considers Sumler/Page biggest competition. Liked Bostick, saw lots of potential, didn't consider Harrington a major threat. Henry (10), Bostick (5), Harrington (3), Page (2), Sumler (1)

Judge #4 - ditto Judge #3. Henry (10), Bostick (5), Harrington (3), Sumler (2), Page (1)

Judge #5 - liked the fresh, new appeal of Bostick. Saw lots of great things in both Henry & Page and their rankings were a toss-up, but because Henry had competed less and seemed like a newer, fresher face, gave Henry the edge over Page on the final ballot. Bostick (10), Henry (5), Page (3), Sumler (2), Harrington (1)

Bostick - 30 points
Henry - 28 points
Page - 26 points
Harrington - 13 points
Sumler - 8 points

It's really simple to see how this happened, because no scores are dropped on the final ballot. And if certain judges want to stack the deck in favor of their favorite contestant(s), or against other contestant(s), it's totally possible. Now, I'm not saying that this is indeed what happened...just that it's a possible scenario. Think about it.

Well the same thing happened in 2005 with the Miss MS pageant. Remember? Angela Allen? Prelim SS winner, Prelim Talent winner, Overall SS winner and ended up 4th runner up. When Dambrino who I BELIEVE correct me if im wrong only won in talent. Same case Page. won talent, EG, and overall Talent, but ended up second runner up. It happens alot. Not only here but other states as well. Its just that final ballot and sometimes its helpful and sometimes its not.

True. I can't help but think that if 2005 hadn't been the first year the final ballot was brough back, Angela Allen would've been Miss MS & won a ss prelim @ Miss America instead of getting married a month after Miss MS.
