Does anyone know where I can buy fabric to make dress bags? Also, does anyone have an opinion on what material is best to use? I am considering making a few dress bags for some dancers in my school.

-The seamstress that makes many of the solo dresses at our school uses a medium weight vinyl upholstery fabric and long sport zippers. I know Hancock and JoAnn Fabrics sell this fabric, sometimes on the remnant table too. A heavy nylon raincoat fabric would probably work as well.

-I've used the coated nylon (Cordura) that is often used for backpacks, comes in a range of colors and weights -- the mid-weight seems best; easy to work with and durable, without being too heavy for children to carry. I usually make one to coordinate with the solo dress, and personalize it with a little embroidery and a monogram. For safety reasons I usually just use initials and the school name, rather than full name and address -- We can't be too careful with our precious children !
