I am trying to make myself bloomers/kick pants to
match the lining of my dress. I have found a simplicity pattern used for skating dresses; but was wondering what pattern you all [y'all] use?

Replys:
-The same pattern, I omit the zipper and add an extra 2" to the front and the back pieces
Marie

-A different bloomer pattern
Try Simplicity #8382. This is a full bloomer style with no zipper. After cutting the fabric, I usually "fray check" the edges with liquid fray check purchased at a fabric store. I have had success hand washing all fabrics (including "dry clean only" acetate). I hang the bloomers in the shower, dripping wet and lightly iron them when dry. I prewash the fabric before beginning the project. I hope this helps!

I have a dancer going to the Southern Oireachtas and I have a dress whipped up for her but now bloomers-- does anyone have a pattern or can offer a suggestion as to how they make puffy bloomers? She is 14 and unfortunately they have to be made out of confetti dot-- otherwise I would buy them from a dance store!!!

Replies:
-Go to any fabric store or WalMart. Go to the costume section of a McCalls or one of the other pattern books. Look for a CHEER LEADER'S costume. Those patterns usually have kick pants. And you don't need that much fabric.

-I use any pattern for elastic waist shorts. Instead of just hemming the bottom, I make a casing and put in elastic. It's easy.
