Subject: yarn substitution

I want to make a crocheted yoke blouse from a 1976 Good Housekeeping magazine pattern. The yarn called for is a cone of Lily Frost-tone, which is no longer available. Does anyone know if this was a regular bedspread weight(sz10)cotton thread? The hook called for in the pattern is a sz 8, so I'm thinking it probably is. But I would like to be sure before I start the project. Thanks for any help
